Estimating, Planning and Procurement Manager
Printing & Packaging company located in the Raleigh, Durham, NC area. We are an industry leader that produces the highest quality work.
We are looking for an experienced / detail oriented “PRINTING INDUSTRY” Manager for Estimating / Production Planning and Procurement to join our team. This candidatemust have prior senior or supervisory experience in commercial print and packaging estimating / planning experience to be a fit and ideally should be a quick learner on ePS Pace and Print Management Software. They must be a team player who thrives in a fast paced, growth-oriented environment and loves to find solutions.

Job Summary:
The primary function of this position is to prepare competitive cost estimates for printing jobs by determining the most economical method of manufacture by balancing the production capacity and capabilities of the plant with the desires and requirements of the client.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Estimate the cost of materials, based on specifications from Sales by determining the quantity of materials required and including a suitable margin for spoilage; estimate the cost of processing in the Press, Bindery, Prepress, and Shipping departments by estimating the amount of time required in each department and multiplying by predetermined standard cost figures.
- Determine the production centers and routing needed to produce the job as specified.
- Evaluate methods available for producing the job and select the plan which produces the job in the most economical way.
- Work with vendors to obtain best prices for supplies.
- Work with Sales and Customer Service Representatives in giving customer suggestions for improving quality and/or lowering the price of jobs.
- Use computer to prepare estimates via ePS Pace Management software.
- Develop knowledge of materials used, the best suppliers and competitive prices.
- Keep aware of price changes and competitive prices.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience at a Packaging Printer using computerized estimating systems a must.
- Solid working knowledge of printing and finishing processes, paper, ink, computer operation, the competitive market and purchasing.
- Creative problem-solving skills a must. The Planner/Estimator must regularly analyze customer needs, technical commercial printing constraints and company resources/capabilities then choose among several alternative courses of action to select best method for efficient production.
- Computer literacy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read, interpret / understand oral/written instructions.
- Above average math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions.
- Ability to work with abstract designs and create a rough “plan” for a job to be produced.
- Multi-tasking skills required.
- High school degree or equivalent professional experience required; college degree preferred.
