DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The purpose of the Infrastructure Division is to effectively manage the Houston Airport System (HAS) infrastructure by establishing and maintaining asset management standards and effectively executing capital renewal and rehabilitation projects.

The purpose of the Equipment Operation II in the Infrastructure Maintenance section of the Houston Airport System is to support the goal of "Opening Day Fresh" by prolonging the life and aesthetic beauty of airport's owned assets through effective, efficient, and proactive maintenance. The Infrastructure Maintenance business unit ensures the airport maintains its annual operating certificate by performing key maintenance functions as mandated by Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) - Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 139. Implementing a robust Pavement Management Program, Manage Landside and Airside Mowing Activities. Support the eco-structure of the Airport by Managing Ditch Maintenance and Erosion Programs using Best Management Practices.

The Equipment Operator II duties will include but are not limited to:

• Inspects vehicles for required supplies, materials and equipment.
• Transport of materials.
• Cleans and services vehicles and equipment as assigned.
• Operates heavy equipment.
• Maintains a safe and clean work site.
• Repairs and maintains facilities, structures and equipment.
• May perform a series of manual activities, to include mowing, pouring concrete, asphalt, spraying, etc.
• May occasionally supervises crews.
• May assists in preparing reports and forms

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position requires stooping, bending and/or lifting of items of up to 30 pounds with occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns. Requires the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements within very fine tolerance and/or calibration demands; or the ability to make rapid closely coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within somewhat fine tolerance demands; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements within fine tolerances with large equipment as an extension of the worker.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through 9 to 11 years of formal schooling.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One year of experience in the operation of plant and automotive equipment are required.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License and comply with the City of Houston's policy on driving.Preference will be given to applicants with proficiency in the operation of a two-way radio a plus. The availability to work all shifts, including rotation, weekends and holidays preferred. Experience with implementing Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) - Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 139 a plus.
