We’re seeking an Equipment Manager in the Minneapolis, MN area with similar values, who can put his or her expertise to work. The individual in this role will report to the Director of Operations.
The Equipment Manager’s main objective is to ensure the safe, efficient, and well-maintained operation of all construction and maintenance equipment, contributing to the successful execution of golf course projects. Location of this position is flexible throughout the Midwest or South East Regions.
General responsibilities include:
- Conduct routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance of construction and maintenance equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, tracking usage, repairs, and replacements.
- Ensure that equipment is readily available when needed for projects.
- Ensure all equipment meets safety standards and regulations.
- Assist in managing the equipment budget by monitoring expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, negotiating purchases and sales of equipment, parts purchases, and proposing equipment upgrades or replacements when necessary.
- Assist in equipment repairs, scheduling, and coordination.
- Collaborate with Estimator/Project Managers and Project Superintendents to schedule equipment usage efficiently to meet project deadlines.
- Oversee implementation of Operator Care Program.
Skills and requirements necessary for success in this role:
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment mechanics, maintenance, and repair techniques.
- Ability to diagnose equipment issues and implement effective solutions quickly.
- Excellent record-keeping and inventory management abilities.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
- The capacity to work well within a team and support colleagues in achieving project goals.
- Adaptability to handle unexpected equipment issues and last-minute scheduling changes.
Education and experience:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Technical training or certification in equipment maintenance and repair is preferred.
- Proven experience in equipment management, preferably 5 years of equipment/repair maintenance or fleet management.
- Familiarity with golf course construction equipment is a plus.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Mechanic
Physical requirements necessary in this role:
- Regularly must be able to move around a construction site on his/her own.
- Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit.
- At times effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Active driver’s license with ability to legally pull trailers as needed.
- Travel is required.
