Responsibilities
What you'll be challenged to do:
Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani, LLC, now a division or TranSystems, is excited to announce we are actively searching for an experienced Environmental Specialist to join our award-winning team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supporting the environmental permitting needs of transportation and environmental projects.
- Supporting environmental program management tasks including MS4 permit and asset management programs.
- Performing environmental asset assessments, inspections, and reporting including stormwater management facility assessments, drainage system assessments, IDDE/outfall assessments.
- Preparing environmental permit packages (JPA, CAC, NRI/FSD) for approval by review agencies.
- Preparing GIS mapping to support environmental data reporting and environmental permitting.
- Understanding and interpreting client and regulatory requirements to ensure successful project completion.
- Initiating, leading, and/or documenting field meetings as required with clients, agencies, and partners.
- Analyzing, coordinating, and managing data collected during desktop and field investigations.
- Developing reports to support environmental permitting requirements.
- Performing post-construction monitoring.
- Actively participating in professional and/or technical organizations.
- Enhancing expertise through continued learning.
- Potential additional tasks based on experience include:
- Performing wetlands & Waters of the US delineations and forest stand delineations to support permitting of transportation and environmental projects.
- Preparing SWPPP and/or Good Housekeeping Plans for MS4 permit clients.
- Performing stream assessments, functional evaluations, and preparing design calculations.
- Assessing and developing wetland mitigation designs.
- Assessing and developing shoreline restoration designs.
- Assisting with proposal development.
Qualifications
What you bring to our firm:
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or other industry-related degree.
- 4+ years of experience in environmental assessments, reporting, permitting, and monitoring.
- Experience working in Maryland, Virginia, and/or Pennsylvania.
- Solid understanding of and experience utilizing ArcGIS, MS Office, and position-related field equipment.
- Team oriented and self-motivated.
- Excellent time management and the ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 10-20 lbs.
- Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
