Chemours is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our growing Chemours Discovery Hub team. This position will report directly to the Environmental Managerat our Newark, DE location.
The Environmental Specialist will be part of an exciting opportunity to impact the company's compliance and performance programs at our State-of-the-Art Chemours Discovery hub located on the University of Delaware STAR campus. The Environmental Specialist will be involved in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of various EHS systems across the Site. This highly visible role interfaces with R&D, Technical Service, Pilot Facilities, site EHS functions, and leadership to administer programs, procedures, develop reports and to ensure compliance. Although experience is preferred, current college graduates (Spring 2024) are encouraged to apply.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide technical and regulatory support to researchers for R&D, laboratory activities, and pilot plant operations.
  • Assist and coordinate programs to position the facility for reliable and compliant environmental performance.
  • Work closely with laboratory personnel and pilot plant operators to manage air registrations/permit recordkeeping requirements.
  • Assist in environmental report preparation and submittals including but not limited to air permits, wastewater discharge monitoring, chemical inventory, and waste management.
  • Partnering with site leadership and personnel to maintain high standards of performance and awareness of environmental issues through training programs.
  • Dedication to continued education and development by participating on corporate EH&S networks, outreach efforts, and courses to stay current and knowledgeable on industry best practices, corporate policy, and changes in applicable regulation.

The following is required for this role:
  • BS in a technical discipline preferably in chemical or environmental engineering, or a scientific discipline preferably in chemistry, geology, or environmental science, or related discipline.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of chemical nomenclature.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret scientific data for regulatory applicability/non-applicability.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills to collaborate with all levels of personnel (e.g., from entry level to PhD, engineering consultants, and regulatory agencies)
  • Ability to multi-task, deal with fast changing and sometimes conflicting priorities.
  • Self-motivated and able to learn rapidly.
  • Planning and organizing skills to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel and other data processing skills

The following is preferred for this role:
  • 3 years in an environmental role either in R&D or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control
  • Experience working with Maryland Department of the Environment

Pay Range (in local currency):
$81,715.00 - $127,680.00

Annual Bonus Target:
6%
