The Manager of Environmental Services is responsible for managing custodial operations in outpatient clinics, research buildings, and administrative offices. They ensure staff compliance with health care quality and safety standards, and established processes and procedures. As part of the EVS Leadership team, the Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing custodial operations to provide a clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The Manager will lead staff to model a professional practice environment by encouraging strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication; supporting autonomy and accountability; providing staff opportunities for in-service and education; stressing the importance of continuous learning; and supporting a culture where concern for the patient is paramount.
The manager will spend much of their time achieving organizational objectives though the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff, while maintaining stewardship of human, financial, and physical resources in compliance with departmental goals and controls.
The Manager directly supervises 7 Custodial Supervisors, and indirectly supervises 170+ staff.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a position-related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Minimum of five years of broad-based experience in Hospitality Services, Environmental Services, Custodial, or other relevant area, including at least two (2) years in a departmental operations leadership capacity.
- Working knowledge of health care custodial regulatory standards and requirements including knowledge of codes and policies governing biohazardous and hazardous waste.
- Ability to develop and implement training programs that meet regulatory health and safety requirements.
- Knowledge of Environmental Services or hospitality services principles, processes, practices, and technologies and how these apply in a clinical environment to support the healthcare delivery system.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Health Care Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) Certification.
- Leadership experience in hospitality or Environmental Services operations, ideally for an academic medical center, integrated healthcare delivery system, or large hospital.
