SALARY RANGE: $25 - $35 per hour, BOE
LOCATION: Montana
Granite Peak Environmental (Granite Peak) is hiring an Environmental Scientist to join our team of environmental professionals based in the greater Montana area. An ideal candidate will have experience with hazardous building materials inspections; abatement oversight of asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and methamphetamine; environmental site investigations; report writing; analytical interpretation; project management; and scientific solutions to protect the environment. Granite Peak excels in the EPA Brownfields arena, and the new team member will provide professional consulting and remediation expertise across numerous Brownfields sites in the Rocky Mountain region. The hired individual will work from their residence in Montana, preferably living in Havre, Missoula, or Billings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of one year of experience in investigation and remediation, of hazardous substance and/or petroleum sites .
· Current valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
· 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training is required upon hire.
· Acceptable written and verbal communication skills to interface with personnel, regulatory agencies, clients, and vendors
· Other combinations of education and experience may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
· Note: Granite Peak Environmental will pay for the selected employee to receive training for the Montana accredited asbestos 40-hr trained contractor/supervisor, 24-hour trained asbestos inspector, 8-hour methamphetamine training, and 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and certifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for designing, directing, and/or conducting field investigations and inspections of contaminated properties, , including those impacted by asbestos, lead-based paint (LBP), and methamphetamine.
· This position will support efforts to inspect, assess, and provide abatement design considerations for projects in Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho.
· Support environmental investigations and remediation through preparation of sampling and analysis plans, implementation of field work, data analysis, interpretation, reporting, and remedial oversight.
· Communicate with state and federal regulatory agencies.
· Coordinate with laboratories on time-sensitive analysis of environmental samples.
· Develop high quality technical reports and plans.
· Update internal staff, clients, landowners, and regulators on project updates and schedules.
· Track budgets, timelines, and subcontractors.
