Examples of Essential Duties:
Safety
- Oversees all aspects of the plant safety program to ensure a safe working environment for all team members
- Provides safety orientation to all new team members and ensures workplace hazard training is conducted during onboarding
- Conducts monthly safety committee meetings and consults with employees to identify areas for improvement
- Manages facility Behavioral Based Safety Program (Stop/GOs, Safety Observations, Toolboxes)
- Maintains facility safety programs and procedures in accordance with legal and company guidelines
- Communicates regularly to the Corporate Safety Manager of all recordable injuries, 911 calls, OSHA inspections, and other important aspects of the safety program
- Ensures regular communication with employees and management on accident investigations, restricted duty situations, OSHA audits, safety rules and hazardous work situations
- Perform Investigations pertaining to: Accident, Incidents, and Near Misses
- Maintains records on OSHA recordable injuries and compiles and submits workers compensation claims
- Acts as a technical resource on new products and equipment in order to problem solve and mitigate risks introduced into the work environment
- Performs regular inspections of facility to detect existing or potential safety and health hazards, determines the corrective action or preventative measures needed and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
- Administers first aid when needed and transports employees for medical care if needed
- Creates and manages Job Hazard Analysis for all new processes, equipment, and contractor work.
Environmental
- Assists in ensuring compliance with all environmental laws and regulations
- Assist in preparing information and research materials; create and maintain PowerPoint presentations for environmental meetings
- Conduct training on topics pertaining to environmental compliance in: RCRA,stormwater and industry best management practices in front of crowds
- Assist in updates and revisions of facility environmental policies and procedures
- Collect, transport, and deliver environmental lab samples
- Support and participate in environmental compliance and process audits
- Assist in completion of annual environmental compliance audit by corporate environmental manager
- Research and maintain an understanding of stormwater inspections, hazardous waste, and general housekeeping best practices
- Waste stream determinations
· Waste disposal approvals/recertifications
· Waste disposal plan maintenance and notifications
· Management of satellite areas and hazardous waste storage area
· Assists in all waste related reporting including:
1. State Hazardous Waste reports (if required)
2. Federal Biennial Hazardous Waste reports (if required)
3. Annual Tier II reports
4. Annual Toxic Release Inventory reports
5. Annual Air Emissions Report
6. Annual Stormwater ACSCER
· Assists in maintaining compliance with all Federal EPA and DOT hazardous waste /hazardous materials regulations and all State and local environmental regulations
· Development and implementation of waste minimization technology
· Assists in Storm Water compliance – maintenance of MIDEQ stormwater permit
· Assists in the management of compliance with all Federal, State and local environmental air requirements including monthly coating report.
· Company interface with regulatory agencies and agents
Human Resources
· Responsible for ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of all personnel information, files, data – includes both written and oral forms of information
· Understands and be knowledgeable of PJ Tube policies and procedures in order to assist trusted teammates and managers with questions
· Maintains files and records of personnel matters, such as personnel files and ensuring all such records and files are kept current and compliant
· Works with teammates in planning events and activities
· Updates organizational chart on SharePoint
· Prepare, set-up and conduct new trusted teammate orientations (HR, safety, and environmental), as well as, benefit orientations.
· Participate in recruitment events and interviews
· Laision between temporary employment agencies and PJ Tube
· Assists in recruiting effors and seek out new methods to increase applicant pool
· Schedule pre-employment physicals for applicants that have been made offers of employment
· Assists trusted teammates and dependents regarding benefit coverage questions or direct them to the appropriate source.
· Assist the HR Manager in the administration of Leave Programs. Ensure proper paperwork is documented and received from the trusted teammate. Examples include bereavement leave, FMLA, LOA, jury duty, etc.
· Participate actively in special projects and assignments
Performance Requirements:
1. Knowledge, skills and abilities: Ability to deal with stress and get along with co-workers and supervisors. Ability to read and speak English is required. Mathematical skills equivalent to high school level required. Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with supervisors and co-workers. Regular attendance at work and punctuality are essential job functions. Skillful trouble shooter and problem solver with an analytical mind and strong technical and mechanical aptitude required. Excellent computer skills required including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook and SAP. Excellent organization and planning skills with the ability to thnk ahead and the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Highly motivated, self-driven individual with a strong desire to succeed and eager to enhance knowledge and skills through ongoing education and development. Must follow all PJ Tube policies and procedures, and ensure employees follow them as well.
2. Education: B.S. Degree in Human Resources Management, Environmental, Health and Safety or related field is preferred.
3. Experience: Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
Hours: Regular shift consist of eight hours, Monday through Friday. Hours of work dependent upon shift assignment. Shift schedule is subject to change as needed.
