DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversees and administers the Environmental, Health & Safety systems for the facility.
• Implements environmental, Health & Safety programs, services, strategies, and initiatives that are responsive to the needs of the company’s facilities and guarantees close integration with overall company policy; monitors program efficiency, develops reporting procedures and other methods to measure success, and revises processes and procedures as necessary to improve program effectiveness.
• Provides day-to-day guidance and support to management regarding environmental, Health & Safety practices, interpretation of company environmental, health and safety policies, problem resolution, and compliance with federal and state law; develops and maintains written departmental procedures to guide management in the application of established environmental, health and safety processes and documentation.
• Performs monthly Safety and Stormwater Inspections.
• Files and manages Workers Compensation claims with the support of the Division Environmental Health & Safety Manager.
• Participates in monthly meetings for Ammonia PSM compliance and holds monthly meetings with local staff.
• Performs formal incident reviews for all incidents that result in a Workers Compensation claim.
• Administers the response to, and investigation, of reports of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions; reviews recommendations and/or takes appropriate action in order to mitigate potential environmental risks.
• Performs training needs analyses, as appropriate, and initiates, develops, and/or coordinates the implementation of specific training and development programs for management, staff, and operators; conducts new employee orientation and associated activities for Environmental, Health & Safety systems.
• Manages inventory of Safety and Sanitation supplies including First Aid Cabinets.
• Supports Division EHS Manager in compliance of environmental compliance reporting requirements.
• Chair site Safety Sustainability Environmental (SSE) Committee meetings.
• Track and report safety KPI’s and safety performance for their site.
• All other job-related duties as assigned.
• Member of the Food Safety Team and Food Quality Team
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsibilities include: the employing, the training, the supervising, the disciplining, and the discharging of the employees in the department; subject to the approval of the company.
• Supervise the onsite Environmental Specialist if applicable.

• Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
• Knowledge and understanding of employment and union avoidance practices.
• Ability to manage all records and documents pertaining to regulatory compliance.
• Ability to manage all employee Health & Safety requirements and regulations.
• Tolerance of ambiguity.
• Working relationship with OSHA, MDNRE, MDEQ, MDA, USDA, FDA, etc.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree; or at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
