Position Objective:
Responsible for the implementation, management and adherence to the company's corporate safety and risk management programs. This position will be responsible for standards and functions to reduce and prevent employee injuries, accidents, occupational illnesses and exposure to long-term health hazards
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate safety training for supervisors and managers
- Administer safety exposure assessments and hazard evaluations of operations
- Facilitate technical safety orientation and new employee safety orientation
- Maintain governmental regulatory compliance
- Complete routine job analysis /observations
- Manage investigation and documentation of on the job injuries
- Perform root cause analysis of all employee injuries
- Implements, directs and coordinates safety incentive program
- Maintains defensive driving program
- Primary local contact with regulatory agencies on all local EH&S matters and coordinates communications with corporate partners
- Provides assistance and support to local management in identifying and resolving employee health and safety issues
- Coordinates reporting of worker compensation claims, accommodations for return to work and interfaces with medical providers, management, and corporate Risk Management in providing for proper employee injury management
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Background in EHS, certifications in safety are preferred (ASP, CSP, CHMM, etc)
- Ability to work alternating day and evening hours
- Must be a self-starter who can effectively evaluate situations and take independent action to expedite the resolution of open issues
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to influence all levels of organization leadership
- Janitorial experience recommended but not required
- (5-7) years' experience in safety
