Job Description
WHO WE ARE
At the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) our work is about protecting Michigan's environment and that work spans research, monitoring, regulation, education, and community engagement. We are equally passionate about creating a positive, professional, and supportive work environment where we value our differences and are committed to being open and respectful of all our employees and the public we serve.
We offer internships for students interested in learning more about environmental positions at the state level while gaining meaningful professional experiences. The intern will work directly with staff and executives on key environmental issues in a variety of capacities throughout the department.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE:
The chosen intern will:
  • Participate in the planning and development of an eLearning course for Occupational Safety and Health for EGLE supervisors and management. The program being developed will:
    1. Provide EGLE supervisors and management with an understanding of EGLE's Health and Safety Program and their responsibilities within.
    2. Provide knowledge to fulfill those responsibilities
As an intern you will gain experience in:
  • Planning, design and development of eLearning course content using storyboards
  • Development and delivery of Health and Safety training and information in an eLearning system
  • Gain important knowledge and experience in the critical role safety and health plays in the work that EGLE performs on a daily basis.
This internship experience will be in a hybrid format with some expectation of being in the Lansing office 1-2 days per month. Interns are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week and can work up to 40 hours per week. Days and times of work will be coordinated around the student's academic schedule and the needs of your assigned EGLE team.
