- Visits company sites to support operations with waste management activities and other general Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) duties
- Routinely handles and prepares waste materials for shipment, as needed, by all sites, including the weighing of waste drums, preparing waste inventories for waste shipments and the signing of waste manifests and other waste disposal documentation
- Maintains all waste disposal documentation such as Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Controlled Substance waste documentation and waste manifests at all locations
- Orders and maintains sufficient waste related supplies such as waste containers, labels, etc., Conducts waste storage and container inspections for container conditions and proper labeling, etc. at both locations
- Provides EHS coaching and support to all team members
- Assists with inspections, assessments, surveys, and program evaluations to identify potential hazards or unsafe conditions, and ensure compliance with all applicable safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations and Empower Pharmacy policies
- Assists with administration, documentation and filing of OSHA Recordkeeping, 29CFR1904, Accident Reports
- Provides technical support and problem solving in troubleshooting EHS issues
- Assists with respiratory fit testing
- Assists in the investigations of safety incidents, employee injuries, near misses and/or situations where safety procedures were possibly not followed; and completes the appropriate documentation
- Assists with the follow up after an accident, incident or near miss situation to ensure the appropriate corrective actions have been implemented to prevent recurrence of a similar situation
- Performs administrative duties related to EHS recordkeeping and other related activities
- Provides support and assistance in the preparation, compilation, and distribution of EHS procedural documents and related reports as needed
- Assists with additional administrative functions, such as scheduling and/or facilitating meetings with various individuals, departments and/or third parties
- Assists with coordination of employee work related injury care with company medical providers
- Communicates with managers, supervisors, and Human Resources regarding incidents and/or injured employees work status
- Follows up regularly with employees who are on restricted duty, and ensures restrictions are being followed
- Ensures incident reporting documentation is completed/documented and disseminated to the appropriate persons
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, pull, push climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee will regularly be exposed to areas in which moving mechanical parts, fumes, and hazardous chemicals are present. Employee may regularly be required to lift up to 50lbs. The employee is regularly required to maneuver containers ranging in size up to 55-gallon drums. The noise level for this position will vary and the employee may be exposed to loud noise levels.
- Ability to meet all requirements for respiratory fit tests
- Intermediate to Advanced Computer skills. Multimedia skills, able to create documents, posting, flyers using Publisher or similar software
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher and Outlook) and Microsoft Power BI

- High school diploma required, some college preferred
- 2-3 years of experience in Occupational Safety and Health
- 1-2 years of experience in waste management
- 1-2 years of experience in conducting EHS training
- Familiar with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Emergency Action Plan (EPA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations (29CFR 1910-General Industry, 40CFR-Protection of Environment & 49CFR-Transportation
- Experience with incident management and Workers’ Compensation Claims handling to include working with medical providers and insurance providers in conjunction with the HR Department required
- CPR certification preferred
- First Aid certification preferred
- Automated external defibrillator (AED) Certification preferred
- OSHA 10 & 30 Hour certification preferred
