Job Summary:
This position supports approximately forty (40) operating plants with specialized technical and regulatory compliance assistance to enhance conformance with United States and Canadian local, state, and federal environmental regulations. The position conducts legislative and regulatory monitoring activities, manages environmental technical and regulatory compliance projects, serves as an environmental subject-matter expert to NGC plant and corporate personnel, performs multi-media environmental compliance audits, and assists in sustainability data and program management.
Major Job Responsibilities (not all inclusive):
- Performs environmental multimedia compliance audits.
- Assists with facility audit corrective actions, including up to project management when required.
- Assists facilities regarding technical and regulatory compliance activities.
- Manages permit modification process (air/water/stormwater/landfill) for capital projects.
- Participates in Sustainability data management activities, including data acquisition, upload, and QA/QC.
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Civil/Chemical/Environmental Engineering, or equivalent.
- Registered Professional Engineer or EIT preferred.
- At least 5 years’ progressive working experience in the Environmental Engineering profession.
- Working knowledge of air, water, wastewater, solid and hazardous waste management, permitting, compliance, and related technical projects.
- Proficiency at the conduct of internal multi-media environmental compliance audits.
- Proficiency with environmental legislative and regulatory monitoring activities.
- Proficiency with SARA Tier II Hazardous Chemical Inventory reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with SARA TRI Toxic Chemical Release Inventory reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in project management.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Effective at interactions with representatives of numerous manufacturing plants, environmental consultants and legal counsel.
- Proven track record in effective negotiations with local, state, and federal governmental environmental regulatory authorities.
- Mastery of general PC software applications as well as internet research experience.
- Candidates in this position must be able to travel, with overnight stays, to other facilities, plants, job sites or other locations for meetings, training and/or company business.
- A willingness to travel as much as 55% of the time.
