The Early Career Chemical/Environmental Engineeror Scientist will support work in the area of sustainable materials management and climate adaptation and resilience research. This position will provide support to projects for public and private sector clients characterizing the costs, environmental and social impacts for solid waste management technologies and strategies. This position will involve computer-based modeling and frequent use and development of spreadsheets and databases. Opportunities to work across RTI units and programs for growth and exposure across sectors (i.e., air quality, energy, water, food and agriculture) will be provided. This position may be based remotely or out of one of RTI's U.S. offices, preferably our headquarters in Research Triangle Park, NC or our Washington, DC location.
ResponsibilitiesThe candidate will work both independently and as a member of multi-disciplinary project teams on a range of activities, including but not limited to:
Conducting literature reviews. Collecting data and conducting analyses to on the technical feasibility, cost, and life cycle environmental impacts for solid waste management technologies and strategies. Supporting assessments of the social impacts and community engagement and outreach. Supporting analyses of potential climate impacts to waste management infrastructure. Preparing project reports, presentations and other documentation. Supporting projects with public, private and international sector clients.
Supporting business development and proposal activities.
QualificationsMinimum: Bachelor's Degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or related field and at least 3 year of related experience; Master's degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or related fields and at least 1 years of relevant work experience
