About the Role
If you work at Global Enterprise Risk Management of APG Asset Management, you will have a unique opportunity to delve into the dynamic asset management world from a risk management perspective. Global Enterprise Risk Management has a focus on non-financial risks, including strategic and operational risks. In your role. you will focus on non-financial risks related to various investment processes and investment products. And as APG embraces new technological developments, our risk management is also changing rapidly. With an open mind for new techniques, such as process mining, data analytics and virtualization-based reporting tools, and risks in a highly digitalized environment, you are committed to working with the business to make our non-financial risk management excel. Your focus area will be the investment domain, where you will be focusing on non-financial risk management of various investment processes and investment products from a 2nd line of defense perspective. You will be a contact person for the business, jointly with senior colleagues.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist in identifying operational risks inherent with APG-US’s business, and the responsibilities
for managing these risks
- Collect and monitor key risk indicators (KRI’s)
- Ensure APG-US collects operational risk issues in a database
- Analyze, classify, summarize, and report operational risk incident data
- Perform quality control assessments (QCA’s) on detected and unknown risks
- Perform a general assessment quarterly, provide relevant information to the CFRO and present the findings to the US Local Risk Committee on operational risk exposures
- Provide updated information on Monitoring risks and progress on improvements to be discussed with CFRO
- Develop and maintain the control framework and our ISAE reports
- Assess and discuss the effectiveness of the management testing cycle
- Assess issues, audit findings and monitor follow-up
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new technology
- Liaise with internal audit and our external auditor
PoliciesandProcedures:
- Develop and maintain Policies and Procedure framework under guidance of CFRO
- Monitor compliance and consistency on departmental procedures
- Provide CFRO with status information to maintain a working company-wide policy and procedure framework
ProjectManagement:
- Facilitate adherence to change management and new product policies, including new product sign-off
Qualifications:
- BA/BS required
- 3-5 years of experience in a related capacity or as an auditor at a Big 4 audit firm
- Experience with risk management processes, risk-based, internal control assessment, and risk management methodologies
- Knowledge of industry standard risk frameworks (i.e. COSO, COBIT)
- Knowledge of fixed income securities including U.S. Agency, Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS), Collateralized mortgage obligation (CMO), Treasuries, Corporate, and Municipal Bonds. Understanding of real estate and alternative products
- Team player who is a self-starter, pro-active and motivated to create positive change

Compensation:Based on experience, base salary ranges between 80k-90k
