English andSpanish Speaking Middle School Mathand ELA Tutor - Brooklyn, NY

Job Description: We are seeking dedicated bilingual English and Spanish-speaking tutors to join our team and provide onsite push-in support for both Middle School Math and ELA teachers at IS 171, located at 528 Ridgewood Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11208. The tutors will support students from 9am to 1pm, with the daily schedule, students, and academic focus being directed as needed by the school. The tutor will work in-person Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays starting November 21 and running until February 15, 2024. There will be no tutoring sessions on the following dates due to conferences and holidays:

• November 24
• December 25 - January 1

Qualifications:

• Must be able to speak fluent Spanish and be able to provide academic support in both ELA and Math in English and Spanish
• Previous experience tutoring or teaching Middle School Math and ELA preferred
• Willingness to work as a team and support both teachers and students
• Strong communication skills required to collaborate with teachers and students
• Available to work the hours specified above Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at the school site
• Dedication to supporting academic and personal success, particularly among minority and low-income students.
• Passion for educational equity and social justice

Responsibilities:
As an Education Champion, you will work collaboratively with teachers and school leaders to provide the targeted support and interventions students need on any given day. You'll be assigned to small group instruction. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring students have the rigorous and culturally responsive educational support they deserve.
Compensation & Benefits:

• Competitive pay rate of $22/hr with the opportunity to earn $24.20/hr* with a completion bonus.
• Education Champions are not paid during school breaks (Winter Break, Spring Break, etc.).
• Education Champions will be required to attend one 30-minute event per quarter and complete 5 minutes of asynchronous training per week.
