Engineering Technician - Facilities Designer I $7,356.00 - $8,824.00 Monthly
Engineering Technician - Facilities Designer II $7,988.00 - $9,707.00 Monthly

Position may be filled at either level dependent on candidate qualifications and the current needs of the department.

The District:
The District is a medium-sized, municipal, water agency with a Board of Directors/General Manager form of government, 245 full-time employees and a $143.2 million combined annual operating and capital budget for FY 2024. Annually, the District delivers water to over 190,000 residents and businesses in the central and southern portions of Marin County and has stewardship responsibilities for 21,000 acres of pristine watershed lands on Mt. Tamalpais.
The Position:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical and paraprofessional engineering duties related to computer-aided drafting and design processes in the office and in the field; collects and computes data and prepares and modifies preliminary design and construction documents related to water facilities projects; provides technical support to professional engineering staff; and performs related work as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Facilities Designer I: This is the entry level classification in the Facilities Designer series. Incumbents perform routine drafting projects and other paraprofessional engineering tasks. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied, complex, and difficult. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise.
Facilities Designer II: This is the fully qualified journey-level classification in the Facilities Designer series. Positions at this level are distinguished from the Facilities Designer I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
Positions in the Facilities Designer class series are flexibly staffed; positions at the Facilities Designer II level are normally filled by advancement from the Facilities Designer I; progression to the Facilities Designer II level is dependent on (i) management affirmation that the position is performing the full range of duties assigned to the classification; (ii) satisfactory work performance; (iii) the incumbent meeting the minimum qualifications for the classification including any licenses and certifications; (iv) the incumbent satisfactorily meeting the internal promotional criteria; and (v) management approval for progression to the Facilities Designer II level.
Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis until a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received. The deadline for the first review of applications is on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 5:00 PM. Applicants are encouraged to apply promptly as this recruitment may close at any time without notice.
