- Use computer-aided drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or Inventor to create detailed drawings.
- Prepares finished 2D and 3D drawings for all engineering disciplines related to electric transmission, distribution, and substation projects covering voltage levels from 25VDC up to and including 500kV AC.
- Ensures 2D and 3D drafting/modeling deliverables conform to company standards, operating rules, safety orders, government regulations, and national guidelines as directed by Senior Designers and Engineers.
- Develop an understanding of how to implement new standard drawings related to all engineering disciplines as well as modification to existing electric engineering drawings.
- Maintain library of 3D models, creating new models, and managing changes to existing models as needed basis.
- Attend regular training sessions to refresh current skills, anchor new skills, and actively minimize error-related markups.
- Support 3D modelling project through its current and future phases by attending workshops and steering meetings.
- High School diploma, Certificate of Training in technical drafting or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience developing 3D models for transmission & distribution or equivalent.
- Must be able to exercise analytical ability and independent judgement in evaluating and completing drafting requests.
- Basic, but clear, verbal and written communication skills to be able to interface with internal/external clients.
- 5+ years of experience developing 3D models for transmission and distribution.
- Relevant experience is either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company, performing drafting functions.
- Clear, concise, and effective verbal and written communication skills to be able to interface with internal/external clients.
- Able to lead discussions on occasions using email, IM and/or Teams.
- Experience with SDG&E’s 3D modeling project is highly desirable.
