Position Summary:
Job Type: Full-Time Summer Internship
Dates: May 06, 2024 - August 02, 2024
Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour.
The intern will assist with several small-scale O&M projects as well as projects to support the ISO initiative. The Electric Engineering Intern will learn from, and be supervised by, a mentor of the Electric Production Department.
Essential Functions:
- The intern will be responsible for assisting Operations with updating the Lockout Tagout software which will support the Asset Management Objective 5, managing a small-scale heat exchanger installation project, creating Operator logs in eLogger, and supporting ISO certification of the chiller plant.
- In addition, the intern will assist with and participate on the following projects:
- GM Hot Water Conversion capital project
- Outage inspections.
- Support projects and cross functional meetings throughout the BWL.
- Utilizes standard office software (i.e., spreadsheet, word-processing, database) and SAP.
- Required to follow BWL Safety Manual and wear personal protective equipment for all field work.
- Attends training and safety awareness and/or skills improvement as required by the BWL or government agency such as MIOSHA.
- Participation in the continuous improvement of the Asset Management System and Work Management processes.
- Expected to comply with all BWL policies and work rules.
- Predictable and reliable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Specifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited educational institution in an engineering program (e.g., chemical, mechanical, industrial, reliability, electrical) with junior or senior status during the summer of 2024.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
- Employees are required to follow the BWL Safety Manual and wear required personal protective equipment, adhere to BWL safety rules and regulations, attend all training for safety awareness or skills improvement as required by supervisor, BWL, or governmental agency such as MIOSHA.
- Normal office and occasional field work.
- Field conditions may include heat, cold, dust, and/or noise.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.
- Must successfully complete a background check, a substance screening and a physical (if applicable).
