Job Description:

Basic Function:

 Reporting to the Central Utility Plant Chief Engineer the Energy & Sustainability Analyst will assist with various assignments and tasks to optimize campus wide energy procurement and efficiency. The Energy & Sustainability Analyst will work directly with federal, state, and municipal agencies in the development and implementation of energy standards and programs and assist with the development and execution of tasks, projects and programs to ensure Facilities Management continues to meet the mission and goals of Clark University.
 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform data analysis and calculations to produce monthly, quarterly and annual energy, environmental and sustainability reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review and resolve utility account issues by working with utility companies and bill processing firms.
  • Undertake data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for operational improvement, energy conservation opportunities, and potential cost reduction.
  • Ensure all Solar, Net Metering, Alternative Energy Credits, and Reverse Electricity sales revenue is accounted, submitted, and applied to Campus Utility Budgets.
  • Utilize the Universities purchasing and financial system to monitor and approve Utility invoices for payment.
  • Effectively utilize budgetary asset and Departmental resources under span and control. Manage available Utility incentives and implement towards University Capital projects or upgrades to existing University structures.
  • As a key member, participate in the development of University wide energy efficient projects.
  • Provide support in creating and implementation of Energy & sustainable management strategy.
  • Apply and keep current all Federal, State, and city permits pertaining to Air Quality, Fuel Storage, Tier 2, regulated waste and recyclables for all Clark University properties.
  • Track, report, and submit all emission record keeping data to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Environmental Protection  Agencies (EPA) as required.
  • Update and revise Clark Universities Spill Prevention and Counter-measures Control Plan accordingly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (Science, Engineering, Math or related field)
  • Two (2) years of experience in providing technical information and/or training on a variety of energy related building science topics.
  • Possess an Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certificate and  be able to obtain within 18 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated computer knowledge including Microsoft Suite of products including Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, Foxit Reader, Sketch-up/Revit or CAD-related software, and other web-based facility management applications & programs.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to walk, stand or sit for long periods of time, climb stairs, and the ability to occasionally lift 25lbs.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts State drivers license. RMV check and clearances required prior to hire.
  • Required to work safely and promote a safe environment.
  • As an "essential employee", ability to respond and/or manage responses to facility emergencies, energy audits, University closings and special events during nights, weekend and holidays.
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work cooperatively, effectively, and professionally with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds as well as contractors, manufacturers, vendors, and consultants. Willingness to contribute to cultural diversity in an educational environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of and experience with Utility, MEP, HVAC, and building energy systems, Energy & water conservation measures, green house gas emission scopes/reporting.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
  • Ability to self-direct work without frequent supervision, as well as on a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including telephone etiquette, presentation ability and written correspondence.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and interpret information to discover anomalies and opportunities and develop solutions and options to address these. 
  • Experience developing technical reports or program planning, energy savings performance contracts and understanding of energy modeling programs and protocols.
