Title: Energy Efficiency Products Team Lead (Retail)
Location: Rochester/Ithaca, NY - On-Site
Reports To: Energy EfficiencyTeam Lead (NY)
Job Overview:
As the Energy EfficiencyTeam Lead (Retail), you will support the growth and expansion of Energy Efficiency Products in the Upstate New York area. Primarily, you will manage a team of three Energy Efficiency Product Merchandisers (Retail) and provide support implementing critical field outreach and merchandising services to retailers of energy-efficient products and appliances across the Upstate New York territory from Buffalo, Rochester, Ithaca, Binghamton, and surrounding areas. The Energy EfficiencyTeam Lead (Retail) will oversee and ensure Energy Efficiency Product Merchandisers (Retail) are providing education to employees at retail locations on the product benefits and best practices for selling products to consumers, as well as assisting consumers with understanding potential savings opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are being met while supporting the program field service merchandising activities in ~150 retail locations spread across the service territory.
- Manage the performance of the three Energy Efficiency Product Merchandisers (Retail).
- Oversee education to retailers’ staff and consumers on residential savings opportunities provided by the Product Merchandisers.
- Prepare status reports to accurately describe activities in the field and to monitor progress towards achievement of program goals.
- Develop rapport and build relationships with product merchandisers, retailers, and external clients, including Retailer/Trade Ally outreach and training as well as distributing Point of Purchase (POP) materials at participating retail locations.
- Schedule and staff special events at big box retail locations during evenings and weekends and attend client-sponsored promotional events at wholesale and retail levels if requested.
- Contribute to the evolution of program strategies and the design of program features, services, and marketing campaigns.
- Assist with other projects and assignments as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage deadlines and projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Possess solid quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong proofreading and editing skills.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Solid quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to connect quickly with others and work effectively at all levels within and outside of the organization, including vendors and business partners.
- Ability to travel within the Upstate New York Service Territory.
- Flexibility to rotating weekends and additional hours as needed.
- Ability to prioritize and work both independently and manage a team.
- Ability to work well under pressure in time-critical situations and be productive and self-motivated during slow periods.
- Intermediate experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access is essential.
- Advanced conflict resolution skills required.
- Must have a current, valid driver’s license, clean driving record, proof of motor vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- Bilingual (a plus)
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in energy and Energy Efficiency programs or related trade experience
- Experience with the Energy Efficiency program market in the state of New York
- Experience with retail merchandising programs
- One to three years of experience working with commercial trade allies working on Energy Efficiency programs in New York or experience building relationships with trade allies in similar markets.
- Strong understanding of residential and commercial energy-efficient applications, Energy Efficiency programs, and US policies for Energy Efficiency.
- Experience working on successful Energy Efficiency programs, with specific expertise in Energy Efficiency technologies and products (especially residential and C&I energy-efficient measures), as well as energy issues in existing residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.

Work Environment:
- “Office” work is to be primarily conducted from home, however, travel to onsite retail locations is required. Most of the Team Lead’s time will be in the field.
- In the field requires the employee to be on their feet moving around retail locations and placing POP materials.
- Friendly, fun, cooperative, and very fast-paced. Staff members need to be able to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.

Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000
