About the Position:

As the Retail Energy Efficiency Team Lead, you will support the growth and expansion of Energy Efficiency products in the Upstate New York area. Primarily, you will manage a team of three product analysts and provide support implementing critical field outreach and merchandising services to retailers of energy efficient lighting products and appliances across the Upstate New York territory from Buffalo, Rochester, Ithaca, Binghamton and surrounding areas. The Retail Energy Efficiency Team Lead will oversee and ensure Product Analysts are providing education to employees at retail locations on the product benefits and best practices for selling products to consumers, as well as assisting consumers with understanding potential savings opportunities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are being met while supporting the program field service merchandising activities in ~150 retail locations spread across the Avangrid service territory.
- Manage performance of the three Retail Energy Efficiency Product Analysts.
- Oversee education to retailers’ staff and consumers on residential savings opportunities provided by the Product Analysts.
- Prepare status reports to accurately describe activities in the field and to monitor progress towards achievement of program goals
- Develop rapport and build relationships with product analysts, retailers, and external clients, including Retailer/Trade Ally outreach and training as well as distributing Point of Purchase (POP) materials at participating retail locations.
- Schedule and staff special events at big box retail locations during evening and weekends and attend client-sponsored promotional events at wholesale and retail levels if requested
- Contribute to the evolution of program strategies and the design of program features, services, and marketing campaigns
- Assist with other projects and assignments as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, or Communications preferred or Equivalent Experience
- 3 to 5 years of sales or outreach experience with a strong customer-centric mindset
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience
- Advanced experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access is essential
- Proven attention to detail, time management, organization, and prioritization; Ability to work well under pressure and self-motivate
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences; Strong proofreading and editing skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to connect quickly with others, resolve conflict, and inspire and mentor direct reports
- Ability to travel within the Upstate New York Service Territory; must have a current, valid driver’s license, clean driving record, proof of motor vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation
- Flexibility to rotating weekends and additional hours as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience in energy and Energy Efficiency programs or related trade experience
- Bilingual in Spanish, highly desired
- Certified Energy Manager, LEED, other industry certifications are a plus
- Experience with the Energy Efficiency program market in New York
- Experience with retail merchandising programs
- 1-3 years of experience working with commercial trade allies working on Energy Efficiency programs in New York or experience building relationships with trade allies in similar markets
- Experience working on successful Energy Efficiency programs, with specific expertise in Energy Efficiency technologies and products (especially residential and C&I energy-efficient measures), as well as energy issues in existing residential, commercial, and institutional buildings
- Strong understanding of residential and commercial energy-efficient applications, Energy Efficiency programs and US policies for Energy Efficiency
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- “Office” work is to be primarily conducted from home, however, travel to onsite retail locations is required. The majority of the Team Lead’s time will be in the field.
- In the field requires the employee to be on their feet moving around retail locations and placing point of purchase materials.
