Overview:

TRC Advanced Energy (TRC) is a nationally known Energy Efficiency consultancy. TRC collaborates with clients to develop and implement market transforming programs and initiatives that promote Energy Efficiency, renewable energy, and green building in multiple market sectors across the US and around the world. These initiatives reduce energy costs, improve the health and safety conditions of buildings, while also helping the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. TRC acts nationally to address some of our country’s most challenging problems: global climate change and energy independence.


TRC is seeking a Remote Senior Project Manager preferably in the NY market. This position will provide support to NYSERDA's NYS’s Building Code officials under NYSERDA Building Codes Program.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage external project teams to perform contracted work to support the pilot implementation and scaling.
  • Assist with developing mini-bids or new program solicitations.
  • Participate in scoring committees and other elements of the award selection process.
  • Negotiate statements of work, schedules, and budgets during the contracting process.
  • Collaborate with NYSERDA Contracting and Legal teams to develop final contracts.
  • Model diligent attention to NYSERDA processes and champion process improvements
  • Desiring candidate who is an NYS licensed engineer or architect.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
  • This position requires familiarity with building codes, site inspections, and plan reviews, as well as interest is policy, regulation, and community affairs.
  • The team is specifically looking for someone with code compliance and/or enforcement experience outside of NYC, including familiarity with the predominant building typologies outside the city and the challenges facing smaller authorities having jurisdiction upstate. The candidate should have expertise and experience with residential energy code compliance methodologies (HERS rating, IECC Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner, etc.), as well as understanding of commercial energy code compliance methodologies (IECC Commercial Plans Examiner, IECC Commercial Energy Inspector, etc.).
  • A successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong analytical skills, proven ability in project management, successful experience working with stakeholders and code practitioners, advanced knowledge of building science, and ability to develop and manage complex projects and stakeholder engagements. Awareness of the complex social, political, and environmental issues at play in the state. An ability to work both independently and on teams and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders is needed.
  • In addition, the candidate should exhibit the following:
    • Ten or more years of relevant experience in building science, code enforcement, building inspections and compliance, project management, or another related field.
    • Mission-driven individual who is motivated by NYSERDA's mission to solving the world’s biggest climate and environmental challenges.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving ability, resourcefulness, adaptability, and an instinct for surfacing value and pragmatic solutions.
    • Meticulous attention to detail; strong planning and critical thinking skills with the ability to anticipate needs of key stakeholders.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    • Experience with contracting and procurement processes for a New York State agency, authority, or equivalent public entity.
    • Knowledge of and insight into building energy codes, regulatory proceedings, environmental and economic impacts, opportunities, and impediments.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving ability, resourcefulness, adaptability, and an instinct for generating value and pragmatic solutions.
    • Skill in managing multiple, diverse projects or activities simultaneously, delivering on commitments and operating with speed, accuracy, and strong judgement.
    • Highest level of communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.
    • Interest in policy, regulation, and community affairs a plus.
    • Experience with code enforcement, plan reviews, and compliance inspections
    • Experience with contracting and procurement processes for a New York State agency, authority, or equivalent public entity.
    • Interpersonal skills including the ability to work and collaborate with external stakeholders to support code implementation, compliance, and enforcement.
  • At least one of the following:
    • HERS Rater certified by a RESNET accredited rating provider.
    • ICC Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner (Exam ID: 79) code year 2018 or 2021
    • NYS DOS Code Enforcement Basic Training Program (BTP) – Certified Code Enforcement Official Certificate
    • Professional Engineer License issued by New York State
    • Registered Architect License issued by New York State

  • ASHRAE Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP)
  • AEE Building Energy Simulation Analyst (BESA)

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $85,000-$102,000. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
