The opportunity
As an Assistant Director on the EY Assist EAP Clinical Team, you will be involved in a variety of activities associated with EY Assist (the firm’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP)) in a mostly remote role. These activities include but are not limited to one-on-one consults with individuals, crisis intervention and response for individuals and teams, working with clinical referrals, clinical assessments, case management and follow up for EY staff and partners. You can also expect to contribute to EY Assist program marketing and communications, relevant research, as well as professional and public speaking about best practices in workplace Mental Health. You’ll have the chance to leverage your knowledge and expertise of analytics to assess the evolving needs of the partners and staff of the firm and the ability to drive best-in-class, impactful, innovative, and clinically informed solutions to address the Mental Health and overall wellbeing of EY’s workforce.
Your key responsibilities
Contributing to EY Assist’s efforts to empirically analyze the emotional health of the firm’s partners and staff and contribute to initiatives addressing such findings
Contributing to the management of the EY Assist vendors providing well-being services to partners and staff according to vendor performance objectives
Providing clinical risk assessment, including suicidality assessment, depression, anxiety and addiction assessments among others, referral, and follow-up services to all ranks/levels of individuals as well as job performance referrals and fitness-for-duty coordination. Support for family members associated with the firm is also provided as needed
Providing consultation to senior management of the firm, Talent Team (HR), Global Security, and the General Counsel’s Office in the resolution of high-profile cases and critical incidents
Conducting on site or virtual critical incident debriefings and support in response to workplace tragedies or traumatic events
Remaining current regarding workplace wellbeing and Mental Health research and best practices, as well as child and elder care, parenting, special needs, addiction disorders, and executive performance management, among others
Contributing to the marketing of the EY Assist services internally to the firm to achieve utilization levels that result in a favorable return-on-investment
Contributing to initiatives addressing the emotional health of the firm’s partners and staff, as an individual and as member of the EY Assist team
Creating and delivering presentations and content (virtual and in person) around wellbeing, benefits, stress mitigation, burnout prevention and other Mental Health and wellbeing topics
Building strong, impactful partnerships with EY’s talent team and leadership
Evaluates and recommends to the Director of EY Assist those services, coverage, and options available through occupational medicine, wellness, and consulting companies to determine which programs would best meet the needs of the firm’s goals and culture
Skills and attributes for success
Extensive clinical knowledge and experience must be applied to each human dilemma presented to EY Assist. Must have the ability to respond decisively to emergency situations, deploying the appropriate resources and guidance, often remotely, to those in the immediate location of the emergency. Calm restraint, leadership, and the ability to make good decisions under stress is critical
Expertise in at least one specialty area of behavioral health practice, such as chemical dependency, post-traumatic stress, eating disorders, gambling, depression, anxiety, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships with both internal and external resources and clients, proficient interpersonal communication skills,
Ability to positively and efficiently collaborate with team members and work collaboratively with others at EY to deliver the mission objectives of the firm’s wellbeing and Mental Health initiatives
Ability to exercise sound judgment, set and manage evolving priorities, organize, implement, and administer effectively in all areas of accountability, in what is often a very autonomous position in a fast-paced work environment.
Experience working as an EAP professional is preferred
Ability to be a self-starter, initiate ideas that would enhance the EAP firm offerings
Technological skills in Microsoft suite of services and minimal data analysis knowledge. More advanced technological skills a plus
Demonstrate of advanced understanding of and adherence to HIPAA privacy requirements and all relevant ethical codes
Participate in weekend and holiday on call rotation for urgent and emergency situations
Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time, occasionally with minimal notice, as needed and to work at a local EY office when needed or required (approximately 10%) of the time
Possess a high level of specialized knowledge of EAP, industrial / organization psychology and well-being, and works independently on non-recurring projects with limited direction
Adheres to local, state, federal laws for maintaining confidentiality
To qualify you must have
Advanced degree (MA, MSW, Ph.D.) in social work, psychology, counseling or other related field with relevant Mental Health experience
Minimum of 3-5 years post master’s related experience.
State licensure in a Mental Health discipline (Examples: LPC, LAC, LMSW, LCSW, LAMFT, LMFT, PhD, PsyD)
Ideally, you’ll also have
State certification in chemical dependency treatment desirable
CEAP – Certified Employee Assistance Professional desirable
Experience in the consulting / financial industry
Experience in human resources
Certified Threat Assessment Professional
SHRM training / certification
Coaching certification

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $101,900 to $184,900. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $122,300 to $210.100. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
