TITLE: EMD/EFD Quality Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Division Chief - Quality & Process Improvement

SUMMARY
This position serves to enhance the clinical practice of MCHD EMS ALARM and is responsible for assisting in the development and advancement of the quality of practice through the facilitation of our International Academies of Emergency Dispatch EMD/EFD quality program. The primary focus will be ensuring that all Incident Performance Reviews (IPR) are completed per our accreditation standards. This will include completion of IPRs, appropriate delegation of IPRs to members of the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU), education, and monthly reporting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Daily Completion of EMD/EFD IPRs per accreditations standards.
- Responsible for daily management of our EMD/EFD programs in coordination with the Quality and Training Coordinator in Alarm.
- Completion of IPRs for MCHD’s focused and special case reviews.
- Monitor, track, report on, and work collaboratively to improve the system’s performance.
- Provide all staff with performance reports per Accreditation and MCHD standards.
- Ensure Alarm staff remains compliant with all MPDS/FPDS guidelines.
- Assist Alarm - Quality and Training Coordinator in both maintaining Alarm Center accreditation and all re-accreditation activities.
- Assist Quality and Training Coordinator with AQUA maintenance.
- Development and implementation of EMD/EFD CDEs.
- Perform quality reviews of dispatchers using MCHD’s Basic Skills Assessment program.
- Assist Alarm - Quality and Training Coordinator with training activities and updating of training files as needed.
- Serve as a resource to Alarm Training Officers.
- Coordinate Alarm Training Officers’ meetings based on the needs of Alarm.
- Monitor Daily Observation Reports for all new employees in Alarm.
- Serve as a member of the Quality Assurance Unit, Dispatch Review Committee, and advisory member of the Dispatch Steering Committee.
- Attend and present quality review cases in the weekly quality meeting in collaboration with the Medical Directors, Quality Department, and Department of Clinical Services.
- Provide routine updates and recommendations to the Division Chief - Quality and Process Improvement and Division Chief Alarm on a routine basis.
- Ensure that patients receive the appropriate care and that care is based on evidence that it will have a clinical benefit.
- Ensure that patient care is provided in a manner that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, values, and ensure that patient values guide all clinical decisions.
- Assist with operations of the Alarm Center during high volume times.
- Other duties as necessary that are reasonably consistent with the above.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- AA/AS or equivalent industry experience required;
- Two years’ experience as an active IAED EMD-Q and EFD-Q;
- Four years’ experience as an active IAED EMD/EFD;
- Previous leadership experience in a communications center; preferred
- Current Texas Department of State Health Services EMT-Basic or Higher;
- Current Texas Driver’s License;
- Current IAED Medical and Fire Q certifications;
- Current American Heart Association CPR card;
- Current NIMS IS-100, IS-200, IS-700 and IS-800 certifications;
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Proficient word processing, database, and spreadsheet skills required;
- Basic Email and Internet Skills required;
- Ability to work on a multi-screened environment, manipulate mouse and keyboard commands with accuracy;
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees;
- Ability to learn specific job related software applications;
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
All additional certifications must be obtained in a reasonable time period as made available by MCHD
- APCO Communications Center QA/QI Supervisor Certification;
- APCO Customer Service for Public Safety Communications;
- IS-300 & IS-400 Certifications
- Remain insurable by the current insurance vendor of MCHD.
