QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. An Associate's Degree or 60 college credits or State/Local ParaPro Assessment test required
  3. Previous experience working with youth preferred
  4. Previous technology experience or post-secondary education preferred
  5. Have knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies.
  6. Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  2. Ability to maintain accurate records and reports, to monitor students, speak and write effectively, establish and maintain effective relationships, work with and secure the cooperation of students
  3. Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and with specialized computer-based equipment and software
  4. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
  5. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members
  6. Ability to understand and maintain students' and parents' rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students
  7. Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level
  8. Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position is held in the highest of confidentiality
  9. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction and supervision of the Elementary Interventionist Coordinator and the classroom teacher, the Elementary Interventionist has the following duties:
  1. Providing literacy supports to small groups of students (75% of the day).
  2. Attend workshops or professional development in best practices in literacy.
  3. Provide support for emotional needs of students.
  4. Collect, analyze and maintain accurate records of student progress through the use of progress monitoring and formative assessments.
  5. Assist with individual assessment of students.
  6. Attend Student Success team meetings and coordinate student intervention services with Elementary Interventionist Coordinator.
  7. Performs related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach with hands and arms, sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend as necessary for student learning and safety. The employee may lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 10 pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. The employee will read correspondence and computer screens, and use the telephone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoors, and outdoor environments, in all types of weather. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with students, staff, and the public.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Elementary Interventionist reports to the District Elementary Interventionist Coordinator. The Elementary Interventionist will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
INITIAL WAGE PLACEMENT PLAN: Starting at $14.35 Per Hour
WORK YEAR: 10 Months / 6.5 hours per day
