Job Description
As Electronic Diagnostic and Repair Technician, you will be responsible for verification testing, diagnosing, and Repairing of electronic circuit board and top-level assemblies
Requirements:JOB DUTIES:
Include but are not limited to the following:
- Identifying and diagnosing problems in electronic devices. This involves using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers to test and measure electronic signals.
- Lead, prioritize and support daily RMA activities of the Customer Technical Support team.
- Diagnoses and Repairs failed circuit boards using a variety of diagnostic tools including visual inspection.
- Gathers, interprets, and enters failure data information into computerized tracking system and prepares reports.
- Work with Product Engineering, Manufacturing and Management to analyze, identify and report failure trends from field returns and production failures and drive continuous improvements.
- Perform operational tests, failure analysis and fault isolation to the component level.
- Repair/Update field return and production parts as needed; Ensure Company Quality standards are being met.
- Work from schematics, system diagrams, written and verbal instructions to perform testing, troubleshooting, environmental testing, and other Quality department tasks.
- Perform component level repairs using IPC610 standards for SMT and Through Hole technologies (IPC610 Certification or equivalent experience preferred).
- Perform peer reviews and update test procedures as necessary.
- Support the maintenance, development and calibration of Polara test equipment and fixtures.
- Work directly with Quality Manager, Inside Sales, Manufacturing and Design teams as needed to support continuous improvement for all products.
- Take customer support calls and accurately log details into the customer issue database.
- Successfully troubleshoot complex traffic systems with customers over the phone, recommend and document solutions, follow up with customers as needed.
- Publish monthly reports from repair database analysis to track trends for new and existing products.
- Work with design and manufacturing teams to develop and test Corrective Actions based on Root Cause Analysis
- Must have great work ethic and be detail oriented.
- Look for and propose opportunities to improve product design, customer training and knowledge base.
- Perform all other duties as directed.
Minimum Requirements
- Exhibit proficiency in the use of electronic test and measurement equipment. Ability to understand and utilize assembly documentation such as but not limited to the following: Schematics, BOM’s, EC documents, Visuals, Debug, Testing tools and procedures.
- Reading schematics and technical documentation: Being able to interpret and understand circuit diagrams, datasheets, and service manuals is important for troubleshooting and Repairing electronic devices.
- A strong understanding of electronic components, circuits, and systems is essential. This includes knowledge of digital and analog electronics, microcontrollers, power supplies, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Soldering and desoldering: Proficiency in soldering and desoldering components is necessary for repairing and replacing faulty components on circuit boards.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify the root cause of issues and find effective solutions.
- Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English across all levels of management.
- Electronics training or experience equivalent to two years technical trade school or military technical school (associate degree strongly preferred).
- Demonstrates an understanding through applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, and electrical testing.
- Ability to read and interpret product specifications, schematics, mechanical drawings.
- Set up, operate, and adjust test sets and auxiliary equipment.
- Two years of customer support experience requiring a strong technical knowledge of company products and supported system interfaces.
- Experienced using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and issue tracking database tools (JIRA and Syteline are a plus).
- Capable of performing data analysis and reporting using typical industry tools (i.e. Excel spreadsheets, graphs, and pivot tables).
- Customer Field Support and Warranty experience is strongly desired.
- Understanding Traffic Control and Accessible Pedestrian Systems is a plus.
Equipment Used:
Uses normal and specialized test or diagnostic equipment, including oscilloscopes, DVM, signal generators, power supplies, test chambers and similar test apparatus, hand tools and soldering irons.
Physical Requirements:
- Good fine motor skills.
- Able to handle very small parts with tips of fingers and/or tweezers.
- Ability to work with a microscope.
- Corrected vision to 20/20.
- Able to work standing or sitting.
- Manually lift and transport up to 30 pounds.
