This CPM is partnering with another company that provides engineering services across the entire asset lifecycle, including feasibility analysis, conceptual engineering, basic engineering, detailed engineering, procurement, construction management, commissioning, operations and management, facilities modification and repurposing, and decommission
This position requires a broad knowledge of electrical utility and substation engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience and education. It also requires a solid technical background in protection and controls to develop and implement designs for existing and new transmission and distribution projects. Finally, it requires at least eight (8) years of electrical control design experience working for an electrical utility or similar industry.
Responsibilities:
· Provide designs of the protection and controls for electrical utility projects.
· Proficiency working on protection and control drawings, including one-line diagrams, relay protection, control schematics, instrumentation and alarm schematics, SCADA controls, racks and panels views, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and bills of materials.
· Work collaboratively with electrical layout designers, civil designers, electrical project engineers, system protection engineers, construction supervisors, and construction field personnel.
· Provide guidance and reviews of protection and control designs completed by others.
· Conduct site walk-downs to assess field conditions, evaluate the scope of work, compare or verify drawing content, and meet with field personnel and other stakeholders to collaborate on project requirements.
· Provide technical expertise to the engineering and construction personnel.
· Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers and review technical documentation, including vendor drawings.
· Lead and mentor junior designers and actively participate in technical discussions as needed by the project team(s).
· Be an active participant and contributor to improvements in standards and design processes.
Whwe're're looking for:
· B.S degree in Electrical Engineering
· 8+ years of electrical utility experience and knowledge of electrical substations and switching station equipment, e.g., transformers, circuit breakers, medium-voltage switchgear, gas-insulated substations (GIS), regulators, capacitor banks, disconnect switches, oil pumping plants, and associated electrical systems for switching and substations and/or outside plant electric distribution and/or transmission systems.
· Candidate must possess a proficient knowledge of protective relay schemes and applications, SCADA, metering, A.C. and D.C. power and controls, alarms, fiber optic communication, and equipment monitoring systems.
· Proficient in working on one-line controls, schematics for protective relays, including microprocessor relays, control schematics, alarms, auxiliary power, SCADA and metering circuits, etc., and understanding of electrical layout drawings to effectively support projects.
· Clear and concise writing and verbal communication skills.
· Experience leading a large, complicated design project, including GIS projects, adhering to project schedules, and preparing person-hour estimates.
· Experience in reviewing design work from others to comply with utility standards.
· Shall work with minimal supervision and be a good team player.
· Computer skills: MS Office (Word, Excel), Microstation, AutoCAD, Acrobat, etc.
· Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, you must possess a valid drivedriver'snse with a safe and satisfactory driver history.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Advanced degree or technical training, P.E license.
· Familiarity with utility best practices, IEEE, ASME, NESC, and NEMA Standards.
· Experience with PLCs, substation data concentrators, digital fault recorders, and similar equipment.
· Familiarity with company standards and procedures.
