POSITION PURPOSE:

We are seeking a highly motivated Controls and Automation Engineer to join our team. As a Controls and Automation Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, start-up, and handover of a new manufacturing site. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the establishment of a state-of-the-art facility while working with cutting-edge technology and driving process automation.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

  • Design and configure control systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Distributed Control Systems (DCS), to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and develop innovative solutions to meet those needs.
  • Develop control strategies and algorithms to ensure efficient and reliable operation of equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors and suppliers to integrate their systems into the overall control architecture.
  • Conduct system testing and validation to ensure adherence to design specifications and performance requirements.
  • Participate in commissioning and start-up activities, including troubleshooting, calibration, and optimization of control systems.
  • Prepare documentation, such as control system specifications, user manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams for effective utilization of control systems.
  • Manage and maintain digital systems, ensuring high levels of availability and security.
  • Participate in code reviews and design discussions to ensure that solutions meet quality standards and best practices.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO ASPIRE FOR THIS ROLE?

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50%.
  • Proven experience in controls and automation engineering, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of control systems and automation technologies, including PLCs, HMIs, DCS, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
  • Experience with designing and implementing control strategies and algorithms for complex manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in control systems, such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block diagram.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Availability for constant travel
  • Spanish proficiency would be a plus

Pay: The pay range for this position is $83,200 to $124,700. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
