Visual Comfort and Co is looking for an Electrical Lab Technician to join the Engineering team in Skokie, IL!
This position will be responsible for layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems for lighting products, such as electronic transformers, LED drivers, power supplies, dimmers and other controls applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing, and physics.

Responsibilities:
· Read wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components.
· Test electronics units, using standard test equipment, and analyze results to evaluate performance and determine need for adjustment.
· Perform preventative maintenance or calibration of equipment or systems.
· Adjust or replace defective or improperly functioning circuitry or electronics components, using hand tools, soldering iron, etc.
· Write reports or record data on testing performed or specifications to assist engineers.
· Build prototypes from rough sketches or plans.
· Maintain system logs or manuals to document testing or operation of equipment.
· Provide customer support and education, working with users to identify needs, determine sources of problems, or to provide information on product use.
· Procure parts and maintain inventory and related documentation.
· Maintain working knowledge of current lighting testing and evaluation technologies by reading or attending conferences, workshops, or other training.
Qualifications:
· 3-5 years of related experience in an Engineering Lab Environment
· Experience in the Lighting Industry or related industry
· Associate degree in Applied Science, Electronics, or Engineering or accredited apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted.
· Proficient in the set up and use of electrical and electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMM’s, power meters, light meters, and network connected devices.
· Experience with microprocessors and embedded systems.
· Understanding of electronic circuits related to lighting product power supplies.
· Knowledge of regulatory agency standards including UL, CSA, FCC.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office
· Ability to work in a team atmosphere, promoting positive work relationships with both internal and external partners.
· Capacity to utilize effective time and personnel management skills working against multiple deadlines and competing objectives.
· Self-motivated, able to achieve goals and objectives without supervision.
