Position PurposeTo provide Electrical Engineering expertise, project leadership and management of the Facility Electrical Technicians. The incumbent is responsible for managing the activities of the Electrical Technicians, for providing Electrical Engineering expertise applicable to maintaining/ improving manufacturing processes and for providing project leadership with respect to electrical design and development of the manufacturing equipment and processes. This includes, supporting continuous improvement efforts as it relates to equipment reliability, equipment standards, and procedures.
Scope
The incumbent is a member of the Process Support Team and reports to the Process Support Manager. The incumbent will typically receive work direction from the Process Support Manager and works closely with the Process Support Team, Manufacturing Teams and Global Engineering Team in support of Facility objectives. Individuals in this position are expected to lead major technical projects and Facility initiatives, as well as, perform tasks through individual efforts, coordinate activities with manufacturing teams and participate in activities with cross functional teams.
The incumbent is expected to perform electrical failure analysis to correct issues and will be expected to help develop the electrical knowledge and expertise within the technical resource team. To effectively perform these activities, the incumbent must be capable of communicating to, and working with, all levels of the organization.
Education, Skills and Experience Required
§ Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent education with three (3+) years of experience.
§ Strong analytical skills.
§ Demonstratable high level Allen Bradley ControlLogix and SLC programming experience. Must be able to design and program using these technologies.
§ Working knowledge of Auto Cad.
§ Proficient computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Power Point, and Project.
§ Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate utilizing written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
§ Must be well organized with the ability to support and participate in multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
§ Able to develop training materials and effectively train adult learners.
§ Capacity to enhance education and technical skills.
Principle Accountabilities
- Coordinate activities, as required, to ensure that a safe and healthful environment is provided for all employees and compliance to all government regulations and corporate policies are maintained.
- Develop expertise with respect to the Facilities manufacturing equipment and processes in order to support manufacturing initiatives that meet customer and business requirements.
- Provide leadership with respect to the development of electrical and controls knowledge and skills for electrical technicians and others in order to support manufacturing initiatives that meet customer and business requirements.
- Provide technical expertise with respect to electrical design of equipment and processes through the utilization of engineering principles: commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Provide technical and organizational leadership in support of daily manufacturing activities by assisting operating teams and technical resources to analyze and resolve process issues related to equipment, product quality, and productivity as required.
- Provide leadership in the development of machine centerlines and good run settings.
- Provide coordination and leadership for major projects and initiatives. This includes continuous or process improvement initiatives, equipment modifications, and new equipment design and installation.
- Provide technical and organizational leadership for the commercialization of new products, processes or systems for any of the Facility manufacturing processes as required.
- Coordinate the electrical fabrication, operation, installation, and/or repair of equipment and processes.
- Provide leadership for continuous improvement activities as required with respect to safety, quality, productivity and cost initiatives.
- Provide support to purchasing by providing equipment specifications and/or requirements, resolve equipment or parts issues, and realize cost savings opportunities with equipment vendors or parts suppliers.
- Provide leadership in developing and maintaining in-process information systems; and participate in analyzing production, waste and delay information to identify opportunities to maximize output, reduce waste and improve overall asset efficiencies.
- Communicate fully with seniors, subordinates, and others who have the need to know. Communications should be prompt, complete, candid and clear.
