Essential Functions of Position:
- Perform design activities requiring a basic understanding of drawings, calculations, specifications, and industry standards and practices covering the assigned work.
- Responsibility for the relay protection & control engineering including detailed design for high voltage substation and transmission projects through 345kV.
- Depending upon complexity of the project, the candidate may prepare, provide guidance, or assist in preparing and developing the engineering deliverables for electric substation projects - including the development of: one & three line diagrams; schematics and wiring diagrams; relay settings and calculations; control and relaying panel layouts and specifications; control and relaying panel and equipment wiring diagrams; SCADA system and communications interfaces including RTUs, HMIs, and IEDs; auxiliary system design including batteries and chargers, AC & DC load centers, conduit and cable sizing, backup generator sizing (UPS); commissioning and functional testing specifications; and the overall bill of materials.
- Shall have a basic knowledge of the theory, practices, and procedures pertaining to engineering matters in one or more of the following areas: Civil Engineering, Communications Systems Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, and Automation Systems
- Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions.
- Develop professional work knowledge and abilities in one or more of the following areas: Civil Engineering, Communications Systems Distribution Engineering, Electrical Control Systems Substation Design, Protective Relaying, Substation Automation, and Transmission Systems Power Systems Analysis
- Develop knowledge of the Company's design, construction, QA/QC, and safety standards and the Company document control system.
- Responsible for complete and accurate record keeping and quality of all work performed.
- May be required to travel to support work.
- Other duties as required.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited engineering program
- Power Concentration preferred, not required
- EIT or pursuing EIT preferred
