POSITION OVERVIEW

The Electrical Engineer plays a key role in the successful execution of projects. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Commercial, this individual will provide technical and engineering excellence, as well as successful delivery of work to our customers. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly understood and acted upon. This candidate will have necessary education to be able to get their Professional Engineer (PE) license in the future. This position will enable them to gain the necessary experience and knowledge to take the PE exam and become a licensed PE. The successful candidate will also contribute to a dynamic team environment by being proactive, communicating clearly to all stakeholders, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Assists with the design of one or more of the following: power distribution systems (primary requirement), size motor feeders and starters.
• Working knowledge of 3-phase and single phase power systems.
• Supports the design of building power and lighting systems. Includes the design of special systems, such as ground fault, lightning protection, emergency generator, UPS, etc.
• Prepares engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet contracted scope of work and to ensure application of Electrical Engineering Principles.
• Possesses a basic understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Structural Engineering construction practices.
• Build up knowledge of Codes (e.g. NEC, NFPA, IBC, Life Safety Code, etc.).
• Assists with performing voltage drop and short-circuit calculations. Perform arc fault analysis.
• Coordinates work with other departments and project team members as well as contractors.
• Interest in or experience with supporting or primary role with lighting design, or technology systems design (telecom, fire alarm, electronic security, audio/video).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

The successful candidate will have a pragmatic and applied approach, while at the same time bringing a creative examination of customer needs and solutions. The successful candidate will have project experience and/or a working knowledge of Electrical design for building projects. AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drawing experience will also be very beneficial. This person will have strong interpersonal skills to enable effective interaction with Designers, Engineers and Project Managers. This person will also possess strong communication skills. The level of seasoning we are looking for likely comes with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience following graduation. While this level of experience is preferred, we are also open to considering someone graduating directly from an accredited electrical engineering program. The successful candidate will be self-directed but thrive in an environment where consultation leads to superior outcomes. Additional qualifications the successful candidate will possess include:

EDUCATION

A Bachelors’ degree in Electrical Engineering and willingness to obtain a Professional Engineering registration in North Dakota is required.
