Primary Responsibilities:
Develops concepts and designs layouts of complex electrical parts, and assemblies and creates computer aided product definitions. Uses Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools to perform job responsibilities, which include the ability to use standard mathematical models, as applicable, to analyze results. Works on a variety of projects and tasks that vary within their discipline, following defined procedures and practices.
- Create Schematics using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
- Create PCB and Flex Circuit layouts and documentation from schematics using CAD tools.
- Process PCB and Flex Circuit layouts for pattern generation, documentation, and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) files for fabrication and assembly.
- Work closely with Product Design Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Designers to produce the optimal PCB and Flex Circuit layout for power supply, high speed design, Radio Frequency, and other circuits.
- Route digital, analog, mixed signal, and power functions as per best industry practice.
- Create and release documentation for PCB fabrication per company guidelines including but limited to BOM, Gerbers/OBD++, pick and place, fabrication, and assembly drawings.
- Produce and maintain all documentation and engineering drawings for PCB and Flex Circuit designs.
- Incorporate engineering change orders to PCB and Flex Circuit designs.
- Uses CAD models to calculate dimensions and tolerances to assure function, fit, and manufacturability of components and assemblies, and performs component research to recommend design alternatives, and contributes to technical designs and documentation.
- Consults with engineering shop, inspection, and manufacturing personnel to verify reliability of design.
- Participate in continual improvement activities involving design rules, design tools, model-based engineering, 3D modeling, etc.
- Monitors workload and provides training and guidance to peers within the ECAD group. Will check the work of peers to ensure accuracy of dimensions, tolerances, and other design/modeling information.
- Work generally impacts team dynamics influencing project outcome.
- Tasks require a high degree of responsibility or accountability because work impacts customer's satisfaction with project.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to "stop" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.
You Must Have:
- Two or more years of experience in design drafting or equivalent experience using ECAD computer systems.
- Ability obtain and maintain Department of Energy Q-Level Clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship
