Objectives:

The Electronic Engineer I will apply principles of electrical and systems engineering to perform activities in support of the engineering analysis and design of cataract and vitreoretinal ophthalmic surgical equipment.

 

This person will be a contributing technical member on product design programs. Primary activities will include participating as part of a rapid response team in analyzing and investigating potential product improvements. Creating alternate original electronic designs for ophthalmic surgical equipment including component-level design and layout of PC boards to comply with electrical standards as they relate to safety, EMC, and EMI in a medical environment. Activities also include performing electrical and mechanical design testing, performing product functional analysis and root cause analysis, and providing input to the creation of technical documents including technical specifications and design failure modes and effects analysis.

 

Responsiblities: 

  • Design, implement, document, and test new electronic product designs.  Ensure proper design documentation, and verification testing, is performed.
  • Create original schematic design documentation illustrating the design (Altium Designer and/or OrCAD).
  • Create PCB layouts to be compliant with IEC60601 safety, emission, and susceptibility requirements (Altium Designer and/or OrCAD).
  • Maintain existing electronic product designs, implementing revisions as required to support manufacturing or improve product performance.
  • Work with Operations to ensure the electronic designs are capable of being fabricated on a consistent and repeatable basis.
  • Perform root cause analysis on product defects and generate summary reports of analysis and conclusions.
  • Participate in project planning activities and project design review meetings as required.
  • Create CAD models of components, assemblies, and create drawings using CAD design program as necessary (Altium Designer).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of science degree in Engineering, equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in electronic design or testing of electronic circuitry.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced technical degree.
  • Analog Circuit Design targeted toward analog power delivery. 
  • Experience with the Altium Designer electronic design package, algorithm design, root cause analysis techniques, and technical writing.
