Job description

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Roadway Designer with 12+ years of experience to add to the dynamics of our fast-growing team and embark on an exciting new adventure in your career. We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to contribute their expertise to multiple types of Electrical Roadway designs, Intelligent Transportation Systems, CCTV, Tolling and Ramp Metering designs along with other various lighting and low voltage design projects in our organization. As part of the team, you'll be responsible for a wide range of impactful tasks, ensuring the successful execution of projects and the continuous improvement of our electrical design team, including guidance of younger electrical designers. The projects you will be working on may only take a month to complete or larger more complex projects may take a year or more of your skills and knowledge to bring to completion.

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Your self-motivating personality with good communication skills will be a great asset to lead and train other drafters, designers, new engineers (EITs) and interns as well as enhance our business development activities.
  • Client interaction and coordination happen on a regular basis.
  • Your effective communication skills - both verbal and written, will be used several times throughout the week as we work on the professional development of our team.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Utilize your Electrical Roadway design, Intelligent Transportation Systems, CCTV, Tolling and Ramp Metering design skills to deliver top-notch solutions for various projects and clients.
  • Prepare technical equipment data sheets, demonstrating your attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Craft technical equipment specifications, showcasing your ability to meet project requirements and exceed expectations.
  • Tabulate material quantities for contractor bid forms.
  • Assist to evaluate vendor technical bids and recommendations, ensuring that we partner with the best suppliers in the industry.
  • Carefully review vendor drawing submittals, taking charge of the assigned project segment with precision and expertise.
  • Engage actively in design reviews, risk assessments, and vendor bid evaluations, contributing valuable insights to enhance project outcomes.
  • Contribute to our financial objectives by efficiently managing your resources and budgets to achieve project success.
  • Uphold and enhance the reputation of our department and organization by taking ownership of challenges and seeking out opportunities to add value to our achievements.

Required Skills
Required Experience
  • Associate degree or equal in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
  • A minimum of 12+ years of experience with electrical system roadway designs.
  • Your experience in the preparation of work plans, budgets and project schedules is highly desired.
  • Your ability and understanding of the NEC, conductor sizing, and voltage drop calculations are advantageous.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Blue Beam, and Microsoft products is expected.
  • Your design skill using AGI32 or similar lighting design software is critical to supporting customer projects.
  • Strong knowledge of design codes and standards such as IES Standards, FHWA, AASHTO, NFPA 70: NEC code.
  • Proficiency with SKM or ETAP system analysis software for load flow, short circuit analysis, and arc flash hazards is a plus.

Annual Salary Range: $60,000 - $120,000
