Duties Summary
Arranges materials in a warehouse; checks goods received and delivered; packs and prepares materials for shipment; operates a van and/or light truck; loads and unloads materials; picks up and delivers supplies and materials; cleans and sweeps warehouse area; and performs other related duties as required.
This recruitment is for temporary vacancies for the 2024 election only. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2024.
There are three (3) immediate vacancies with the Office of the County Clerk - Elections Division:
- one (1) full-time, temporary not-to-exceed 11/29/2024 vacancy in Hilo
- two (2) full-time, temporary not-to-exceed 11/15/2024 vacancies in Hilo
Examples of Duties
- Hand-trucks, carries, pushes, or rolls equipment and supplies within a warehouse.
- Stacks or stores equipment and supplies in proper place by manual lifting.
- Packs equipment and supplies for shipment.
- Operates a truck to pick up and deliver materials.
- Checks items received or delivered.
- Issues materials to authorized persons.
- Assembles materials as requested.
- Makes proper notation of delivery on records.
- Takes proper steps to assure that items placed on truck are safe for trip.
- Loads and unloads deliveries to and from warehouse.
- Responsible for taking vehicles for routine servicing.
- Makes simple repairs to supplies and materials.
- Cleans and sweeps warehouse and adjacent areas.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Training and Experience:
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to:
- graduation from high school, and
- one (1) year of work experience dealing with the handling of freight or supplies, and
- possession of a valid State of Hawai`i driver's license (Class 3) or any other valid comparable driver's license at time of filing. (You will be required to submit your valid driver's license at time of hire.)
Examination: All applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be assigned a score of 70 points. An education and experience evaluation will be conducted based on the applicant's training, education and experience as presented in the application.

Knowledge of: safety practices and precautions applicable to operations.
Ability to: make simple arithmetical computation; take physical inventories; post to simple records; compare goods received and delivered against invoices; work with ordinary hand tools; understand and carry out oral or written instructions; perform manual work; keep the warehouse area in a clean and orderly condition.
