Job Description
Position Summary:
Conducts psychosocial and DSM-IV diagnostic assessments. Develops treatment plans and provides child, adult, older adult, individual, family and/or group therapy in an outpatient clinic setting. Conduct psychosocial assessment, treatment plans and complete clinical progress notes and written documentation, as required by the department, company, San Diego County MHSA, State of California. Evaluates behavior, implements treatment plans and referrals to other community resources as required. Provides crisis intervention services when needed.
Essential Functions of the Job:
1. Provide direct services to adults, children and older adults, including initial assessments, individual, family, and group therapy. Service must be delivered in a culturally appropriate fashion. Psychotherapy will be provided in a fashion consistent with State of California laws and regulations, professional standards of care, agency guidelines, and professional ethical guidelines.
2. Demonstrates ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate in working with underserved communities.
3. Conducts thorough assessments of incoming clients, and walk-ins.
4. Works with clients to develop individual client based treatment plans.
5. Performs crisis intervention as needed.
6. Assesses and identifies client's needs for supportive services on an ongoing basis and makes referrals as necessary.
7. Ability to organize, set priorities and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility.
8. Requests assistance and guidance from the Supervisor and professional staff when necessary to address client issues and problems.
9. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with clients, family members, other professional staff and the public.
10. Establishes and maintains contact with community resources to ensure continuity of care (e.g., case managers, rehabilitation and detoxification centers, psychiatric units).
11. Maintains productivity and caseload as assigned by contractual obligations with the county of San Diego and San Ysidro Health.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
1. Complies with established departmental and health center wide policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
2. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, compliance required courses, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops
3. Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed.
4. Provides services on school campuses as requested by program manager.
5. May be asked to assist in providing supervision of interns under specification of license held.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
Job Requirements:
1) Master's degree in Mental Health, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family counseling, or Psychology.
2) Experience is preferred but not conditioned.
3) ACSW credentialed is highly recommended.
4) Support the organization's mission along with sensitivity of cultural and workplace harmony
5) Planning and time management and strong organizational skills
6) A valid driver's license along with access to a vehicle
7) Management of work processes along with strong computer skills for documentation purposes.
8) Ability to maintain confidential information within HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies.
9) Communication along with professionalism.
Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:
- Knowledge of rehabilitation and recovery treatment modalities.
- Knowledge and adherence to HIPAA requirements.
- Knowledge of using computers, phones, vehicles, copy machines and fax machines etc.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other departments within a large community health center and satellite clinics.
- Works well in multi-disciplinary setting.
- Must possess excellent customer service, communication and documentation skills.
- Must write clearly and legibly o Bi-lingual (English /Arabic speaking)
- Bi-cultural in therapeutic approach strongly preferred.
