Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty five (55) bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty four (134) beds. The organization has approximately three hundred fifty (350) employees.
Responsible for providing inpatient and outpatient evaluation reports, court testimony, and consultation with attorneys, courts, and state hospital and outpatient teams.
Minimum Experience Required
- Experience with assessment in criminal justice / mental health field, as well as individual & group therapy.
- Functional experience with criminal justice and / or mental health system.
- Treatment and diagnostic skills utilizing the DSM.
- Experience with severe & persistent mental illness substance abuse, and evaluating dangerous behaviors.
Minimum Education Required
Masters Degree from an accredited school of social work, psychology or related field.
Minimum Certification / Licensure Required
- License-eligible as a Psychologist
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family therapist
- Valid California drivers license with a driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways Hospital insurance carrier CLETS* (California Law Enforcement Telecommunications Systems)
Essential Skills
- Ability to assemble information from many sources and formulate decision regarding treatment and placement.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detailed information.
- Advanced mental health assessment skills, including assessing dangerousness.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing, with courts, mental health professionals, and government administrators.
- Ability to generate quality reports within a timely manner.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office programs.
Physical Strength
- Light work: able to lift a maximum of 20 pounds
