SUMMARY
Under general supervision and according to the established policies and procedures, performs various non-invasive procedures for evaluation of cardiac function and abnormalities. May perform related clerical duties as needed. Reports to manager, Cardiovascular Services. Provides care to neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Completion of a two- year Associate's degree in Cardiovascular Technology is required for knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology (and specific cardiographic technology) to be able to identify cardiac dysrhythmias and wave from morphologic abnormalities and to respond appropriately. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. One to two years of EKG experience required. A sufficient level of interpersonal skills to explain procedures and/or family members, allay apprehension, obtain medical information and relay pertinent information to physicians and other medical personnel is required. Computer literacy is needed in order to recall, review, and transcribe cardiographic reports accurately and efficiently. Knowledge of EKG computer application and specific automated EKG interpretation systems preferred. BLS Certification required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in normal patient care environments where there are no physical discomforts due to temperature, noise, dust, and the like. May be exposed to communicable disease. Work requires regular walking, standing, pushing, lifting, and position of patients and equipment
