Kelly Services is seeking an experienced EHS/Product Safety Technician in Northlake, IL.
This is a Direct Hire, Permanent position, meaning you will be hired permanently with our client and offered their competitive benefit and vacation package upon hire.
Salary: $50-60k, plus yearly 5% incentive bonus
Hours: daytime, approx. 8am-5pm
Summary
The EHS/Product Safety Technician supports operations in the implementation, sustainment, and promotion of both EHS (80%) and product safety initiatives (20%). This position provides follow-through support for departmental change and sustainment for both EHS and Product Safety related initiatives. The EHS Coordinator fulfills the EHS portion of these duties while the Quality Manager will cover the Product Safety portion of this role in case of a vacancy.
Responsibilities
· Assist in executing and tracking of various safety and environmental inspection requirements including ladders, hoists, Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), fire extinguishers, eye wash/showers, hazardous and non-hazardous waste accumulation, chemical storage, storm water (SWPPP) and oil storage (SPCC).
· Support site’s Job Safety Analysis and/or Risk Management System training and development.
· Support EHS Coordinator in preparing and coordinating routine regulated waste shipments.
· Responsible for documenting employee participation in EHS initiatives.
· Support EHS Coordinator in executing on and tracking progress of annual EHS initiatives.
· Support EHS Coordinator in driving completion of site’s Open Safety Action Items
· Promote EHS communication by creating and managing visual displays of safety team initiatives, employee safety training completion, and facility safety improvements.
· Support EHS Coordinator with the development, management, facilitation, and tracking of employee safety training.
· Assist Quality Manager to respond to Product Safety customer requests.
· Coordinate and participate in internal product safety audits and manage action items supporting SQF certification.
· Coordinate and execute annual and biannual product safety environmental sampling.
· Chemical inventory and SDS verification for all food grade and non-food grade chemicals.
· Work with 3rd party cleaning contractor to manage sanitation activities and maintain records.
· Support Quality Manager in annual SQF Audit preparation activities.

Qualifications/Experience
· Ability to work all shifts and perform overtime
· Previous experience in EHS and/or quality control
· Future training and/or education may be necessary to further job skills
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and PowerPoint presentations
· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
· Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
· Basic skill knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel, and Virtual Client to perform effectively in daily activities
· Powered Industrial Truck operator experience preferred
