Job Summary

The primary objective of this role is to assist the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager in protecting people, the environment, and equipment from unnecessary harm. The position will assist in regulatory compliance responsibilities while proactively promoting the protection of human health, facilities, food safety, security, and work environment by maintaining regulatory OSHA, EPA and FDA and Security compliance.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Development and presentation of required monthly and annual trainings for employees at all levels.
  • Review existing policies/systems against current regulations and initiate the development on new or revised policies.
  • Participate in all incident / accident investigations including determining root causes and corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper PPE is provided and distributed / tracked per log.
  • Assess production area to identify safety / environmental hazards and non-compliances.
  • Assist EHS Manager with maintaining all applicable mandated programs and standards.
  • Act on or assist employees with general concerns.
  • Ensure incident reports are properly completed, submitted, and maintained.
  • Compile / enter Workers Compensation claims / entries and work closely with medical providers and our company insurance representatives on open / active claims.
  • Coordinate compliance with all air quality permits conditions and regulations; including keeping accurate records, daily monitoring of fuel use and production records, and accurate and timely submittal of all required reports appropriate government agencies.

Chemical / Waste Management

  • Assist with wastewater compliance issues, including flow monitoring, required reporting and wastewater system improvements.
  • Management of hazardous waste, universal waste, and other waste streams
  • Coordinate sustainability improvements such as recycling
  • Maintain site chemical inventory storage and satellite areas.

Spill Incident Response

  • Respond to any spill incident, including timely reporting, as required, to appropriate local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Lead initiatives to prevent spills and conduct periodic spill prevention training to appropriate employees.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or BA in Occupational Safety and Health, Public Health Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Will consider combination of experience and certifications.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in an EHS role in a manufacturing facility; Food/beverage production environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal compliance standards in safety and environmental.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills, recordkeeping, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work flexible and on-call hours (including some weekends).
  • Be able to handle a number of assignments and responsibilities while managing interruptions and changing priorities.
  • HAZWOPER, Medical Responder certification, First Aid/AED/CPR/BBP trainer certified, and forklift trainer is a plus.
  • CSP and/or ASP certification is a plus.
