Editorial Assistant - Hybrid

What you’ll do:
- Conduct manuscript reviews, which includes identifying qualified instructors and helping the editors assemble and analyze reviewers’ feedback.
- Assist with calling reviewers and completing internal back-end administration processes.
- Perform basic copyediting and proofreading as needed in a digital environment.
- Prepare digital manuscript copy and art sheets according to stylizing and formatting guidelines for production.
- Assist with market research and photo research.
- Perform quality assurance on software product ancillaries such as PowerPoint, and ExamView.
- Overall general administrative support for your team.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Degrees in English, Publishing Studies, or Journalism preferred.
- Experience in college writing center, peer editing, or university publishing center preferred.
- Six to 12 months of office support experience preferred.
- Must have excellent knowledge of basic English language skills needed to perform editing tasks, specifically, sufficient grammar and usage skills to edit manuscript and create text copy at a level acceptable to Goodheart-Willcox publishing standards.
- Must be proficient in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Windows.
- Must communicate effectively in person, by telephone, in writing, and by e-mail with coworkers, authors, customers, and outside vendors.
- Must conduct training sessions, deliver reports or presentations, and attend meetings throughout the Company’s building, and off-site, if necessary.
