About MEDA:
The Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) is a community-based, local economic development organization that, for 47 years, has engaged individuals and small businesses in community-building strategies. We aim to achieve economic justice for San Francisco's low and moderate-income Latino families through asset development.
About the Mission Promise Neighborhood (MPN):
In December 2012, MEDA was one of seven agencies selected for funding by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Innovation & Improvement to receive a Promise Neighborhoods Program Implementation Grant. This federal program sought to improve academic achievement and family economic success for San Francisco's Mission District families and students and targeted four low-performing schools. In 2018, Mission Promise Neighborhood received a 2-year extension grant to continue the work with Early Learning Partner sites and expand to Licensed Family Child Care provider sites.
MPN is a collaborative, community-based program led by MEDA with 15 funded partners, 20 Family Child Care sites, and supporting partners, including San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), the Office of San Francisco Mayor London Breed, and various city agencies and community-based organizations.
Vision: The Mission Promise Neighborhood builds a future where every child excels and every family succeeds. Students enter school ready for success and graduate from high school prepared for college and careers. The Mission District thrives as a healthy and safe community that allows families and their children to prosper economically and call San Francisco their permanent home.
Mission: The Mission Promise Neighborhood links family economic security with student academic achievement. It creates a comprehensive, integrated framework of evidence-based services that responds to urgent needs and builds on the foundation of student, family, community, and school strengths and assets. Together, parents, neighbors, and partner organizations work hand-in-hand, guaranteeing that all Mission children, youth, and their families achieve academic excellence and economic self-sufficiency.
Position Overview: The Early Learning Family Success Coach serves as the central component of the MPN service delivery system. The Early Learning Family Success Coaches create the direct connection between families at Early Learning sites, including Licensed Family Child Care Provider sites, and the vast array of programs and resources that compose our continuum of services available for our community. The Family Success Coaches identify service gaps and build their network in San Francisco to assure the community has access to resources and services from prenatal care to college access and beyond.
Location: The Early Learning FSC will be a MEDA employee and will be assigned to rotate between the following work environments: designated partner site, home, and MEDA's office. The FSC will be given desk space at MEDA and expected to participate in all MEDA staff meetings, functions, and professional development.

  • Identify and establish relationships with new service providers that offer services needed by families throughout the city.

Data Collection and Tracking

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service, maintain families engaged, and represent MPN in public.
  • Strong commitment to the expectation that children growing up within the MPN community will thrive academically and socially.
  • Ability to take initiative, identify and solve problems, be accountable, and motivate families to meet their goals.
  • Ability to be flexible to work in multiple environments during the week.
  • Capacity to create relationships with a strength-based approach, embrace change, and ability to work in a transforming environment.
  • Having the ability to collaborate and build strong and trusting relationships with all MPN partners (CBOs, Family Child Care centers, public agencies, etc) is required.
