College-Level Student Success Coach plays a pivotal role in supporting college students' academic and personal development. The primary responsibility will be to provide guidance, mentorship, and resources to help students overcome challenges, set and achieve academic goals, and navigate the complexities of college life. This position requires a passion for Student Success, excellent communication skills, and building positive relationships with a diverse student population.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Providence is seeking an energetic, service-oriented, self-starter with a passion for the mission and vision of Providence. This position will report to and work with the Student Excellence Center Director. As a College-Level Student Success Coach, you will play a pivotal role in supporting college students' academic and personal development. Your primary responsibility will be to provide guidance, mentorship, and resources to help students overcome challenges, set and achieve academic goals, and navigate the complexities of college life. This position requires a passion for Student Success, excellent communication skills, and building positive relationships with a diverse student population.

Responsibilities:

  • Individual Coaching:
  • Empower all students to prayerfully and continually discern their calling, formulating their educational, personal, and professional goals and forming strategies for achieving them.
  • Contribute to a campus culture and ethos that normalizes seeking support and help while striving to develop a student’s sense of their own self-efficacy and responsibility.
  • Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with students to assess academic performance, identify challenges, and set realistic goals.
  • Develop personalized success plans to address academic, personal, and career-related objectives.
  • Provide guidance on study skills, time management, and effective learning strategies.
  • Resource Navigation:
  • Assist students in navigating campus resources, including tutoring services, academic advising, and career counseling.
  • Become well-acquainted with financial aid requirements and assist students in understanding and managing their financial decisions.
  • Assist with designing and implementing the Summer Bridge Program
  • Collaborate with various departments to stay informed about available resources and ensure students are connected with appropriate support services.
  • Academic Support:
  • Serve on the Academic Resource Team and manage cases assigned to you; collaborate with other offices to manage the coordination of support offered to a struggling student.
  • Assist in training peer coaches
  • Monitor student progress and intervene when academic challenges arise.
  • Work with faculty to address specific academic concerns and facilitate communication between students and instructors.
  • Conduct workshops on topics such as goal setting, time management, and study skills.
  • Personal Development:
  • Foster personal growth and development by addressing non-academic challenges that may impact a student's success.
  • Provide stress management training, resilience, and coping strategies.
  • Support students in developing a strong sense of self-efficacy and confidence.
  • Retention Initiatives:
  • Collaborate with campus administrators to implement retention strategies.
  • Participate in outreach programs to identify and assist at-risk students.
  • Collect and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of Student Success initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Affirmation of the Christian mission of Providence Christian College and the lifestyle requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Experience in advising, coaching, or mentoring college-level students preferred.
  • Experience working with a diverse population and commitment to supporting success for all
  • Strong understanding of higher education systems and resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Knowledge of academic success strategies and learning strategies.
  • Ability to use technology to support and engage students
  • You have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Possible adjunct faculty positions for qualified individuals
