Branch Operations Manager

The Branch Operations Manager is responsible for creating an environment of operational excellence and continuous process improvement while monitoring the daily operations of the bank' branches, including overseeing the operations of the teller line, deposit accounts, and safe deposit boxes; acts as an advisor to branch retail staff to improve operational performance and reduce variability and exceptions. The Branch Operations Manager is also responsible for managing employee accounts and assisting in the management of deposit rates.

What does a Branch Operations Managerdo? The specific duties/responsibilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

  • Oversees all retail operational related tasks at the branch level to ensure policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Assists the Chief Operations Officer and Retail Training Specialist in creating and maintaining retail policies and procedures.
  • Works with the Market President to provide coaching for Branch Managers and Universal Bankers on operational duties and provides feedback for Performance Reviews.
  • Manages employee accounts, including but not limited to, account opening and maintenance and making decisions such as overdraft and RIP within given authority.
  • Works with the Finance team to manage deposit rates including Core CD and prepares bids and proposals for public funds and other large depositors.
  • Assists the Market President with decisions when a Branch Manager is out, including but not limited to, decisions on RIP, unposted, and mobile deposits.
  • Assists with staffing at a branch when needed; including filling in for a Branch Manager and helping recruit help from another branch when a branch is short staffed.
  • Works with the Finance and Treasury Management department to promote and oversee ICS/CDARs accounts.
  • Works with the Sales Manager to coach retail staff on cross selling products and services.
  • Review, work, and distribute reports.
  • Conducts regular branch manager meetings.
  • Performs all Branch Manager and Universal Bankers duties, as needed.
  • Travels to all branches 1) once a quarter on a regular schedule and 2) for customer calls as needed (primarily for bid customers).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position of Branch Operations Manager has no supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

This full-time, exempt position reporting to the Chief Operations Officer. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8-5, with occasional overtime hours. The working arrangement is hybrid.

After Hours/Weekends: as a Community Bank, we are committed to serving our community! Accordingly, our employees have an opportunity to participate in events after normal business hours for community outreach activities.

Environment and Physical Activity

The Branch Operations Manager is in a non-confined office type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The position includes driving a Bank or personal owned vehicle approximately 15-20% of the time which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.

The Branch Operations Manager, while performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), driving, carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.

The Branch Operations Manager may operate any or all the following: telephone, smart phone, copy machine, adding machine (calculator), scanner and image systems, scanning equipment, computer terminal, laptop, personal computer, tablet, printers, or other office equipment as directed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - you must have these to be considered for this role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 or more years of retail banking experience
  • 2 or more years of Branch Manager experience at a financial institution.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions and physical demands of the job as listed above.
  • Ability to meet the travel expectations of the job.
  • Current driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Participation in at least 2 events per year after normal business hours for community outreach activities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - if you have these you will stand out:

  • Experience with FIS Horizon system.
  • Teller back-end balancing and corrections experience.
  • Experience in branch auditing.

  • Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues.
