Lead Driver / Warehouse Technician
Full-Time, Hourly Non-Exempt
**Important Schedule Note**
During the Spring and Fall busy seasons, this position will work 2 - 4 early morning or late evening shifts per week, and 2 - 4 weekend day shifts (typically less than 4 hours) per month. All other shifts occur during standard business hours. Our drivers are given the flexibility to either work these shifts as overtime, or adjust their schedule elsewhere to stay at 40 hours per week.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager and Director of Operations, the Lead Driver / Warehouse Technician functions as a member of a team to ensure warehouse operations are running smoothly and equipment is getting to and from site in a timely and orderly fashion. As the Lead Driver, you will be responsible for tracking maintenance for the AVFX fleet: (1) cargo van, (2) 15’ box trucks, (1) 22’ box truck, and (1) 24’ box truck. As a Warehouse Technician, you will assist other warehouse staff with unpacking gear and warehouse maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive van, 15’, and 24’ trucks, with a capacity of less than 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight, to deliver/pick up equipment, packages, merchandise, employees, and other goods
- Responsible for safe and secure loading of vehicles, including the use of appropriate safety equipment.
- Track vehicle maintenance, coordinate with the Warehouse Manager and Director of Operations to schedule required services
- General upkeep of trucks and van; keep interior and exterior clean
- Fuel vehicles and submit all receipts for reconciliation
- Abide by all laws and rules of the road
- Arrive on time and prepared with any necessary directions for the day’s route
- Perform equipment deliveries to/from headquarters and event venues
- Pick up and return cross rental gear
- Verify the contents of pallets and/or gear that are to be shipped out with shipping papers, or have arrived at the warehouse
- Unpack gear, confirming that all cases contain appropriate items
- Properly clean and sanitize all returning equipment.
- Adhere to safety protocols in-office and on-site
- Assist other employees and/or technicians, as needed
- Complete other projects and duties as assigned by supervisor and/or management
Skills & Proficiencies
- Familiarity with truck routes in cities of Boston, Cambridge, and surrounding areas
- Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize competing priorities
- Using discretion and judgement within established procedures
- History of working effectively within a team
- Perform routine tasks with minimal supervision
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Effective communication, both written and verbal
Qualifications
- Experience driving non-CDL trucks up to 26’ / GVW 26,000lbs preferred
- Experience driving any large vehicle in Boston, Cambridge, and surrounding areas.
- Current, valid Driver’s license in good standing is required
- MA DOT medical card is required
- Class B CDL is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly and unassisted
- Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and walking
- Sitting for extended periods
- Ability to climb in and out of trucks
Work Environment
- Warehouse environment with seasonal temperature fluctuations
- Frequent travel to off-site locations
- Occasional travel to out-of-state locations – e.g. deliveries to New York, Rhode Island, etc
- Ability to work occasional early mornings, late evenings, and weekends is required
