. Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and DFA rules, regulations, and policies adhering to all safety practices
. Receive instructions via radio and perform trailer shuttling to accommodate logistical needs
. Perform daily maintenance checks of shuttle truck and report any malfunctions to the appropriate person
. Document all trailer moves into the appropriate system or daily move sheet; submit sheet to appropriate person upon the completion of the shift
. Fuel the yard truck as needed
. Couple and uncouple tractor trailer units
. Connect and disconnect brake lines as needed
. Perform safety check inspection of the trailer according to DOT regulations
. Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
. Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with local staff; report any problems to the supervisor
. Attend all driver workshops and training sessions

Requirements:
. High School Diploma or equivalent
. Tractor/trailer experience, within the last five years preferred
. Must meet minimum age requirements
. Meet all DOT requirements
. Meet Dairy Farmers of America Motor Vehicle Record requirements
. Certification and/or License – driver's license or operator's permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application - Current CDL (Class A) license preferred but not required
. Understanding of DOT transportation regulations related to lawful operation
. Able to work safely and recognize sudden hazards and adjust accordingly
. Able to use computers and technology needed for the job
. Skills with math sufficient to calculate load size
. Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
. Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)
. Able to be proactive in seeking solutions, taking appropriate steps for problem-solving
. Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
. Able to follow directions and meet deadlines
. Able to interpret and apply company policies
. Able to adapt and manage to change effectively
. Able to perform task and duties with limited supervision
. Able to follow through on day-to-day responsibilities
. Able to be punctual
. Must be able to read, write and speak English
