DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International is seeking a Drainage/ Water Resources Engineer to join our growing Water Practice in Chicago, IL. In this position, you will support the planning, modeling, and design of complex drainage systems and stormwater management facilities. You will also work with an interdisciplinary team of civil engineers, surveyors, GIS, estimators, project managers, and support drafting/design staff to ensure each design deliverable meets what the client is looking for.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare design calculations for sewer, grading, and stormwater drainage infrastructure; perform analysis, technical reviews, drafting, and construction document production
- Prepare Phase I drainage studies including existing and proposed drainage plans, hydraulic reports, and Location Drainage Studies
- Prepare Phase II engineering plans and specifications for drainage facilities including storm sewers, detention ponds and water quality facilities, erosion and sediment control plans
- Utilize a CADD workstation to prepare engineering construction drawings and oversee the production and completion of preliminary and final plan sets in adherence with department CAD standards
- Work with internal and external engineering teams in the design, quality reviews, and development of preliminary and final design plans and details
- Assign tasks to lower-level design personnel, provide technical guidance, and review completed assignments for accuracy
- Capable of determining material types, descriptions, quantities, and project cost estimates and construction schedules
- Use technical manuals to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable standards or details such as ones employed by local government utility departments, state Departments of Transportation (DOTs) or other agencies
- be responsible for task budget and schedules for drainage related projects.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
- 4-6 years of engineering design and/or CADD workstation experience required.
- P.E. In the state of Illinois or the ability to acquire within six months.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, MicroStation, Geopak or ORD; familiarity with H&H models is a plus.
- Drainage experience with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, or Chicago Department of Transportation.

COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $79,428- $114,688 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
