About us
For over 23 years, Bark to Basics has been the go-to spot for fun and safety for San Francisco's small dogs. We keep things professional yet relaxed.
Are you:
Reliable
Conscientious
Engaging
Punctual
Considerate
Self-motivated
Kind and patient?
Do you love being with Little Dogs? Like, really LOVE it?
Are you interested in learning about how they think and interact?
Can you pick up stuff, like poop and a 25lb dog?
You might be our new team member!
Join us for a role where every day is about making Little Dogs happy. You'll be part of a small team that handles everything from engaging play at our SF daycare and on our beautiful 3 fenced in acres in Montara where we take dogs daily on field trips. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position, with 3 days a week opening and 2 days a week closing. The opening hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and the closing hours are 11:00 am to 7:00pm, plus the occasional chance for overtime.
Besides playing with dogs, it will be your responsibility during playgroups to clean up after them, including -- not gonna lie -- a decent amount of poop pick-up. We all do it. Poop, pee, and barf: you’re going to deal with them. No biggie!
If that doesn’t bother you, then we will be happy to teach you how to supervise dog play, reinforce recall and other rewardable behaviors and manage less desirable behaviors using science-based and force free training methods. The job also requires light cleaning and client interaction. But in between that other stuff, there is a lot of PLAYING WITH DOGS!
Interest in learning more about dog behavior is a BIG plus, but no professional dog-handling experience is necessary. We will train you and will send you to DogNostic’s Dog Walking Academy. The training period is approximately 3 weeks, depending on how much time you can devote to it, and there is a three-month probationary period, during which time you will earn $20 per hour. If everyone is happy, you will get a hearty raise!
Our company observes most Federal Holidays, during which we are closed, and you will still receive your regular pay. In addition to this, you will receive three weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO) annually. Moreover, you will benefit from one week of paid leave between Christmas and New Year's—a bonus that does not affect your PTO balance. Finally, you will receive a weekly stipend as part of your compensation package as well as bonuses throughout the year.
